I play at Yanchep mate. I didn't know anyone there but soon got to know people once I started playing. Most people are pretty friendly and don't take themselves too seriously
  2. Footy season for amateurs over here is April to September mate I found playing a great way to get a group of mates pretty quickly
  3. I play for AFC Joondalup Vets and we played against Port Kennedy in a cup game last year so I assume that they will have teams for all age groups
  4. Hi Dean AFC Joondalup run a masters team on a Sunday afternoon. We have just been promoted from Div 1 to Prem. Pre-season starts around January with a Sunday morning run at Mullaloo beach just to get the legs working again and then on a Wednesday night at ECU from mid-Feb The boys are always in The Bailey so if you are in there and the gaffer is in there somebody will be able to point him or at least one or two of our boys out. Other clubs with masters teams are Joondalup United, I think they play in Padbury, Joondalup City who play in Iluka. There are other clubs a bit further out such as Wanneroo and Quinn's Rocks so plenty of options. Cheers Si
  5. Hi Lou Things are starting to come together for us. We have been here for almost 18 months now (just realised that it was two years ago this week that we came to film WDU and validate our visa's) and are quite settled. I was okay from day one but Trudy and Jacob took a bit longer. Jakey took about three months but Trudy didn't really start to settle until around the nine month mark. We have just been informed that we have planning approval for our new home in Alkimos so it is all systems go and we are hoping to be moving in by the end of March. Keep in touch and if you have any questions then ask away. Cheers Si
  6. Accountancy recruitment seems to have died in the last few weeks. It hasn't helped that a number of contractors were laid off by some of the mining companies around September. Traditionally accountancy recruitment goes quiet at Christmas and in the summer and here we have both at the same time. From my conversations with recruiters it should start to pick up in January.
  7. Hi all Just seen this thread. Been here six weeks now and move into our long term rental next Tuesday. Container arrived on Thursday so we are in the process of getting that cleared through customs. I started a contract after two weeks and have an interview on Monday morning for a longer term one with one of the big iron ore mining companies and there is a good chance that it will go permanent so fingers crossed. A get together and a beer sounds like a great idea. We have been staying with Trudy's aunt and uncle since we arrived so have had family around us but also need to spread our wings and make new friends. We are going to be living in Mindarie for at least the next twelve months so if anyone fancies getting together then just shout. Cheers Si
