  3. Hi Perthlife You say that you can come over on an holiday to activate your visa and then go back to the UK. Do you know how long you can stop in the UK before returning to OZ? Kind Regards Daz
  4. Hi PomPom I sent my state sponsorship form off last Tuesday and it still has not come back yet. I sent them an email and they came back saying they are taking about 2 to 3 weeks at the moment. Kind Regards Daz
  5. Hi All Does anyone know if the Diac actually access the visa applications in the order that they are lodged or do they pick and choose. If I lodged my visa before the 1st July would it get assessed before the ones lodged after the 1st? Cheers Daz
  6. Hi Druid The info is exactly what I was after. cheers. Did you sort this out on your own or did some one do it for you? Where did you get all your info from? Cheers Daz
  7. Hi All I now have enough points to apply for a non state sponsored independant visa (175) instead of the 176. Does any one know if their is moreof a chance getting a 176 instead of a 175 and is it quicker to do so? Cheers Daz
  8. Hi All Can anyone give my an idea of how much it actually costs to take your car with you to OZ? Daz
  9. Hi All This is a silly question, and I can probably guess the answer but I thought I would just ask. Does anyone know how important it is to declare your exact employment history when applying for a visa to the DIAC. I am only asking because on my standard CV I miss off a couple of jobs where I only spent 6 months at each. Does the DIAC actually check out every employer. I just do not want to give them an excuse to reject the application. I would guess the response to this post will be to exactly recored all correct information. If this is so then does any one know whether any potential Australian employer would see all the information that I declared to the DIAC? Cheers Daz
  10. Hi Elfie What type of Engineer is your husband? As he got a job to go to? Daz
  11. Hi 82rhoads I thought that the tsts in the book was very representative of the real thing. Good luck Daz
  12. Hi all As the title asks, is their any Mechanical Engineers on the forum. It would be great to talk to some guys actually working in Perth as a Mechanical Engineer. Thanks Daz
  13. Hi Angel I did my first and hopefully last ielts test on Saturday. I got the 'Official IELTS practice Material 2' from the www.ielts.org. It is wrote by the University of Cambridge who write the ielts tests. The examples in the book are in the dame format as the real thing, so it is as good as it can be. There is no point panicing because you will just make it worse for yourself. If it's meant to be it is meant to be Angel. You can always have another go. My views might change in two weeks when I get my results. Good luck Daz
  14. Hi K&K In regards to the ielts tests. If you do not take the ielts tests you do not get any points at all. So if you are short on points you will need to take the tests. You will need to get a score of 7.0 in all the 4 tests to get 10 points. This is what I need. Without the extra points I had 60 points, bummer. My tests are on the 31st March. Good Luck Daz
  15. Hi Tomabbie What do they actually do as part of the medical? Daz
  16. You do not have to stop in OZ if you do not like it.
  17. Hi piccolo Take the RSMS option. Permenant residency will allow you to get all the benefits that a temporary visa does not give you. Just because you get the PR visa it does not mean that you have to stop. Daz
  18. Hi Shelly Thanks for you reply. Fingers crossed, and toes. I feel I need a soap box moment. I can 't believe that anyone who holds a British passport automatically receives a 6.0 on the ielts scale. You can't tell me that everyone who falls in to this catagory can speak, listen, read and talk sufficiently. Therefore the difference between a 6.0 and a 7.0, for me is a millon miles away. (Soap box moment over) Daz
  19. Hi Yorkiepud When are you heading out to OZ then?
  20. Hi Yorkie Pud Thanks for the advise. I am guessing you passed it. Am I right? I am sitting the test on 31st March in Leeds. If I fail it I will not have a great deal of time to sit another because I will not get the results until the end of April and then wait another 6 weeks to sit another test. This would take me up to mid June to get the results back hopefully. Just in time for the Visa July deadline. Daz
  21. Hi everybody. Has anyone recently taken the ielts exams? In order for me to get enough points to lodge a visa application I need to sit the ielts exams and achieve at least a 7 across the board. I thought that it would have been pretty easy due to the fact that anyone with a British passport automatically receives a score of 6, so it cannot be too hard to get a 7. How wrong was I! I found some online tests and tried them. The listening one, I thought was hard. I initially got a 6. At that point my heart sank and panic set in. I looked at the correct answers and my mistakes were silly compared to them. For example, one answer was "1 1/2 days", I wrote "one and half days". Does a computer mark the real tests or is it someone with a sense of intelligence and common sense. The writing exam looked quite hard too. Another reason for me been a bit 'tongue in cheek' about the exams is that I have a degree and I am currently studying for a Masters in Administration. Surely I cannot be that illiterate? Anyone got any confidence boosters. If I do not get 7's across the board, then my dreams will be shattered. Daz
  22. Hi Corinne I have just done a practice reading test for the ielts. Crap!. I got a 6 first and the 7 when I did it again. To get 7, I got 8 wrong out of 40. I can not believe the difference from a 6 to 7 baring in mind that any mug with a British passport is awarded a 6 without taking the test. Bugger!. How is you OH coping with it? Daz
  23. Hi Corinne I am waiting to get my degree certified from Engineers Australia. If they certify it, then I will need atleast another 5 points to hit 65. Therefore I will need at least to get 7's in the ielts exam. I have booked in at leeds for the 31st March. Once I get me certificate certifield then I can apply for the state sponsorship. Once the ielts is passed (if) then I can lodge the visa application. It's all pay out! Daz
  24. Hi Pete Can you give me an idea of the cost of the medicals, where you are having them and how long in to the visa application was it before you get asked to go for medicals? Dazling Daz
  25. Hi Corinne When are you doing the IELTS exam? Are you going on the 10th March?
