  1. The western suburbs you have mentioned sound like your best bet include Claremont it's where a lot of DR's live , it's also where most of the private schools are and some good public as well ,
  2. Although it is a new build it replaces the existing children's hospital so many staff will transfer As to Nursing being removed from the SOL unlikely but who knows , Australia is awash with Accountants and they are still on the list (although flagged i believe now)
  3. there is no freeze in the private sector, but because of the public freeze jobs in private sector are like hens teeth , there is agency work but again with so many nurses seeking shifts even agency work is not as plentiful. The thinking seems to be that the freeze may extend beyond June but will have to wait and See , not the best time for nursing in WA at the mo
  4. i would say get your visa then try getting a job first it's pretty bad here at the moment I tried to get some agency shifts gave five days availability early ,late night, not a sniff ,and I am an RN and midwife don't want to spoil your adventure but you do need to be aware of the problems you may have , is there a huge rush for you to get here so soon?
  5. I remember a post relating to this a while ago not sure if it was on this forum though , the conclusion seemed to be that AHPRA do require to see original documents ie passport before they give full registration , unless you lodge you're application at an AHPRA office and they site it there , they will not accept certified copies sent , mind you they change the rules so often who knows , check with ANMAC to see if they will do a modified assessment on provisional registration , will see if I can find the thread relating to this
  6. They are cheap for a reason , I was tempted , they were awful , and the stop over in China hideous the airport has next to no facilities , for not a lot more would definitely go with Qatar or Ethiad ,
  7. You first need to check if your occupation is on the SOL or CSOL calculate if you have enough points then have your qualifications assessed by the relevant assessing body,
  8. Thank you Rossmoyne that's all I was tiring to convey , I haven't been to Seminyak so couldn't give advice on that , but I have had a dose of Bali belly and it's not nice
  9. It's a difficult time the freeze is on until June for all public sector jobs the only exception is police and teaching , (and a teacher friend of mine tells me that's only if you go rural or remote ) agency work is available but as always it's variable and you have to be prepared to be available for any shifts not sure if it's going to improve any time soon but good luck to you all
  10. No sarcasm intended, just a bit of practical advice , it's not uncommon to get a touch of gastro in Bali and gastro stop is a good way to not let it ruin your holiday am sure you will have a great time
  11. Actually there are not lots of private jobs , it's a knock on effect no jobs in the public sector , everyone applies to the private , as a manager in the private sector there are very few jobs I can recruit to , need to see what happens in June when the job freeze is supposed to end we currently have about 300 grads who can't get a job
  12. Hi just a thought, if you are going to do shift work the commute would be quite challenging the Mandurah train doesn't stop near the children's hospital you would have to get off at a hub like canning bridge and get a bus , or go into Perth centre and get a train back to shenton park then a 10 minute walk not easy for an early shift on a Sunday , or after a night , also the Perth Children's Hospital opening has been delayed until at least third half of this year . I do know some who do it by car though .
  13. Hi All its gone to board because after initial assessment of application there may have been some query regarding if you meet the minimum requirements for registration, so the board have the final decision, its often if you have a diploma and you have topped up with either a BSc or MSC which is not obviously directly nursing related (although it may have contained modules which are nursing related that is what the board will look at and decide) I would suspect since ANMAC came into line with AHPRA in regard to minimum requirements it will be the same story there Also another downer here in WA for nurses due to the Government deficit blowout of 3 billion $ there is a minimum 6 month freeze on all public sector appointments including nurses and midwives only police and teachers are exempt anyway good luck hope it all works out for you all
  14. as long as your son has a valid Australian passport He will get a visa valid for 6 months on entry into the UK no need to get one in advance,
