  1. I live in the foothills(forrestfield)...are you talking about Kalamunda shopping mall..which is tiny!!!!! I have never been to rottnest..the sea journey has always put me off..gets choppy out of freo.....welcome to the summer...been hot ...I love it hear....welcome:biggrin:
  2. G'day Lucy.....this feeling from your sister is just her sadness that she is losing you...after all Australia is so far away...it is all we can do..think of the sunshine and getting away fromthe UK...the more I go on about how crappy the UK is the more I piss my sister off!!so you will be here in April..a good time...autumn..just cooling down...it is strange to have xmas in summer but it is wonderful..the outdoorlife..I did go back to visit my sister in the UK in august..but I was so ready to come back after 3 weeks.. I do miss a good curry and pub lunch..but the good life is worth the upheavel and one day your sister will visit you and realise how fantastic this country...keep in touch and just think..next xmas you will be here!!!!!!
  3. Hi! crikey this all sounds complicated..whenI applied in 1991 we had points using my ex's skillls..electronics technician..not my nursing..we were independent not sponsored the whole process took a year..once here we had to stay 2 years before getting citizenship..so glad we did otherwise i could not come back!!!contact me again when you get here and I would like to meet you and help if I can..I work with lots of pommie nurses..lots were recruited last year!!but now we have no staff shortages but then again many people go back to the UK too soon..I was told when i first came here by a pom..give it at least 2 years ..it a was good advice..also it is so weird to be hot at xmas!!the first few months I came in 1991 was the aussie winter and I was in shorts and tshirts>>but now i am acclimatised and i am fed up being cold winter is officially over and 18c is chilly at the moment..I like to be warm..but summers are hot and believe it or not endless days of sun can become unbearable..but I love oz!!!
  4. I live in south of the river in Forrestfield..the foothills..I live in an older house built in the 1970's..there are lots of trees here and it is only a 30 minute drive to perth city centre(depending on traffic(about 20kms)a lot of poms live in joodulup..north in the new suburbs ..there are lots of modern housing developments ..but they are small blocks of land..crammed very close (like uk) the houses are bigger though than older ones with the usual theatre room and open plan living..but I dont want that.so thats my say.
  5. :unsure:what is an activation holiday? I am a nurse too(mental health)..I initially emigrated to Perth in 1991..but my ex did not like the heat and was never as passionate about the palm trees, parrots and better housing(in the uk we live in tiny houses that all look the same)..here they are bigger..big back yards and of course wonderful weather..even if it rains the sun always shines for a while.anyway we took out citizenship and went back to the UK in 1993...luckily I got divorced in 1997I live south of the river in forrestfield 5minutes from the airpoprt and returned here in 2001 with my 2 kids..now aged 17 and 19..they are so glad we came back..life in the UK is so depressing..we went back for xmas 2004..I was so fed up and homesick for oz..I will always be a pom in oz!!we live in Forrestfield just 5 kms from airport in the foothills...so when you do come over let me know and I will help you in anyway I can. The dream is waiting for you..get out of the UK and start living!!!
  6. :smiloe:hallo Diane ..I live in forrestfield..just around the corner..I love the hills..I moved out here in 2001 with my 2 kids(now 19 and 17)..I love the space, parrots and palm trees..and of course the weather though I am so fed up feeling cold..but it is nearly spring!!
