1. Good luck with it all! The trick with IELTS is practice - there are lots of sites on the internet that can help, or some people buy books. I think that you will need the boys' father to give official permission for you to go. I'm sure others on here can give you more advice. Yes, it's 60 points for the 190 visa. DIAC are proposing to change the fees in the near future, so that you would have to pay for yourself as the main applicant, and also for each of the boys. It's doubling what we were expecting to pay originally!!
2. Lets just hope the exchange rate keeps improving - that would help a LITTLE bit...........!
3. Yes, it will double it for us too, as we're a family of four..........
4. Excellent news! Well done!
5. Just to say that this thread was started over 2 years ago..........
6. Well - we are now the proud owners of two positive AITSL skills assessment certificates (teacher skills assessment)!! Have to say that we were a bit worried, as we graduated over 20 years ago, so it was hard work getting the paperwork together, but AITSL didn't query anything, and were obviously happy with what we sent! AITSL emailed on 5th March to say that they had received our documents. By the 21st May the application tracking page showed 'Application complete' for one of the applications, and two days later the 2nd application had the same message. That was 11 weeks since 5th March. It then took a week for the results and certificates to arrive. The reason for the two assessments was one for the main applicant, and one for partner skills points..... State Sponsorship next..........
7. Hi! If you are the main applicant, then Bricklayer 331111 is on the CSOL, which means that you would have to get State Sponsorship for a 190 Visa. You would have to get your skills assessed by TRA. Yes, bricklayer is on the WA list at the moment. Hopefully others will be able to give you further advice. Good luck with everything!
8. Hi - I know that other people have used solicitors. We needed certified documents for our Skills Assessment with AITSL, and we asked a local headteacher to certify them - and they did it for free (or a bottle of wine)!

Hello from Perth!!

Looking forward to hearing all about it!
10. It's what you pay when you apply for a skilled visa....
11. I think a lot of us are like that, and it's what keeps driving us forward. We actually lived in Oz for a short time, so we kind of know what to expect. We worry more about job prospects and cost of living, and realise that if we do ever make it out there for good, it could be a real battle to make ends meet for a while. Must be mad!

Snow in May!

Hi! Wasn't sure where to post this, but people on PomsInOz have enjoyed seeing this photo....... It's the mountains in Mid Wales with snow from last night - yes, in May!!! Beautiful, but the weather's been miserable, and I just want to see some sunshine now for a change! I'm still wearing boots, scarf and winter coat!
15. Hi Olivia - I'm a mum of two teenage daughters. We went to live in New South Wales in Australia a couple of years ago, and were there for eight months. Both my daughters went to school during that time - one was 11, the other was 14. It was a big thing for them, and I was nervous for them the first day they went to school........ When they got home that afternoon, they were buzzing! They'd had a great time, and had already made friends! By the time we had to leave when our 8 months was up, they were really upset at having to leave their new school and friends!! My daughters found that people were interested in them and where they had come from, rather than being picked on because they were slightly different. They still keep in touch with their friends in Oz.......... Just be yourself, and you'll probably find that there are others who are in the same boat as you, or have been in the past, as people seem to move around and change schools quite a bit - at least they seemed to where we were living! Good luck!
16. Yes, I agree that the IELTS is achievable, and most people have to do it for the points. There's lots of practice material available online, and practice, practice, practice is the key....... Good luck, and don't give up!
17. It's all really complicated, isn't it?! That's why these forums are great - I've had a lot of help and advice from both this forum, and PomsInOz. You could put down what you think your points breakdown is, and then people on the forum can see if it's possible for you to reach the magic 60 points.......
18. Hello, and good luck!
19. The WASMOL is linked to the SOL and CSOL. You need to apply for a Visa with DIAC, and the occupation 'Driving Instructor' is on the CSOL. The WASMOL is jut the State Sponsorship part of the Visa application. This is the wording at the top of the WASMOL page - Applicants who have an occupation identified on the Western Australian skilled migration occupation list (shown below) may be eligible to apply for Western Australian State Sponsorship using the following visas: Skilled – Nominated (subclass 190) visa or Skilled – Nominated (Provisional) (subclass 489) visa You then need to look at the information about the 190 Visa. http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/index/visas/subclass-190/
20. Driving Instructor 451211 is on the CSOL Schedule 2. Is your husband (main applicant) the driving instructor? If so, what is your occupation? If you want Partner Skills points, your occupation will also need to be on CSOL Schedule 2, and you will have to get your skills assessed by the appropriate authority. I hope I've understood you correctly!
21. Do you mean Partner Skills points? [h=4]Partner Skills[/h]You can receive five points if your partner meets requirements at the time you are invited to apply relating to: age English language ability a suitable skills assessment in a nominated occupation on the same Skilled Occupation List used for your application. You cannot receive these points if your partner is not included on your visa application, or if they are an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident.

[TH=bgcolor: #E0E0E0]Points[/TH] [TH=bgcolor: #E0E0E0]Evidence required[/TH]

5 You must provide evidence that your partner meets the requirements. This evidence must be: documents that prove your partner is 50 years of age or younger documents that prove your partner has at least competent English a positive skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority for your partner’s nominated occupation (your partner’s nominated occupation must be on the same Skilled Occupation List as your nominated occupation).
