  7. Hi Everyone I've been looking at the site on and off for a couple of years now but never posted anything because moving to Perth always seemed to be something unrealistic, but I seem to have worn my wife down and now she seems to be more accomcodating to the the idea! I would be the main visa applicant as a Quantity Surveyor/Contract Administrator (degree qualified and with around 8 years experience with main contractors) and was just wondering what the job market is like over there at the moment? I have read a few posts/threads that suggest it is in contraction so the idea of moving over there now might not be as good as it would've been a couple of years back. I look forward to hearing back from you (whether it is what I want to hear or otherwise)! Thanks

  9. Hello everyone, The company I work for is in the developmental stages of a new construction project slated to start in 2013 at the Harol E Holt Naval Station. We are a US based company that would be looking to higher local contractors to perform the work. Could anyone help provide info about the local construction culture: Is WA primarily union or non-union? In the US we have a wage scale that sets the wages for various trades when working on federal projects, is their something similar in WA? Do we contract directly with the contractor or is their a middle man? What is the average cost of a meter of 30MPa concrete? What are equipment rates like? I appreciate your help BT
