  1. Hi all, I've been in senior manager roles in MNCs in the UK and am now in Perth looking for a job. I've been told by a few people (including Hays who I met) to be open to any level of roles, including entry level - just wondering if it's a wise decision to do that until a senior role comes along, or will I be slotting myself and have to start all over again? Any advice will be appreciated. Many thanks.

    Seeking 457 Visa

Hi All, A friend of mine directed me to this site in the hope that anyone out there can help me! I have been living in Perth for just over 18 months on a working holiday visa and have totally fallen in love with the city and can't ever imagine going back to the UK! As a result I have been seeking a 457 sponsorship for the last few months however, without success. I have 14 years experience within the Customer Service industry, from Hospitality management to Occupational Health management. On a daily occurrence I have been looking through the usual job seeking avenues of SEEK, Gumtree, Job is Job - all those you find on a the search engines - but I was wondering if anyone here could point me in another direction? I am essentially seeking a Customer Service Manager position in the mining, energy and resources industry so I can grow my knowledge of Occupational Health within this sector and then, at a later date (when I have the funds), to undertake a Cert IV and a diploma / degree. Any advice, links or knowledge of any current positions who are willing to sponsor would be greatly appreciated!!! Many Thanks in advance - you could well be changing my life...for the better!!!
  3. Hello all, I have been looking for a Perth based Project Management role for the past five months but have not had any luck. I am currently based in the UK and hold a working holiday visa. I have been trying to secure a position prior to leaving the UK without much luck. I am looking for short term 2-6 month contract roles. Once I get settled, my Australian partner and I will apply for the Partner Visa. If anyone can put me in touch with someone who might be able to help, it would be greatly appreciated. In return, I am also a trained proof reader should anyone need help in this area. Thanks Tim

    Hi all

Hi everyone. Really enjoying the forum, and the advice given is first class - able to answer the questions we had by reading the posts, plus found answers to questions we didn't even know we needed to know... if ya get my drift . Anyway we are really early on in the moving to Oz stage. We have only recently decided to go for it and have gone full speed into making it happen. I am a Warehouse and Logistics manager with over 20 years experience, my wife is a contract manager for a recruitment agency and we have 2 boys (15 & 13). So have looked at the Skilled visa route as a first choice - Supply and Distribution Manager (133611). Unfortunately the specs for this have been tightened over recent years (so we are told), and the stipulation of being a senior manager that reports into the CEO does not quite meet my own role, as although i am a senior manager i do not report into the CEO. So.... We think that the 457 visa route is the one to go down. I know of 2 people in the last 12 months that have gone down this route, and understand it can be very hit or miss, but we are going to go for it and see what happens. We have been advised that if we are serious about the move, that it would be advisable to NOT fixate on moving to one particular area (which makes sense), so although we want Perth to be our new home it may have to take a back seat to another area. There is an Expo next month that we are going to, so fingers crossed..... Thanks
