    Advice on what to ship?

Visas finally granted (after 12months of waiting ;)) So now is the BIG move in 7weeks!! We've only been granted temp 457 so for 2years with "maybe" the potential to extend by another 2 years if position is still on the list. Anyway, hubby and I are in a quandary about what to ship? Here, we have a 3 bed house, family of 3 (DD), lots of electrical, garden, tools etc.....bikes, dog's being shipped (another story), and we have been given lots of conflicting advice and a difference of opinion as he's in logistics so has an idea of the complications when containers are held at customs! Advice required..... is it really best to pay a removals company or could I do packing and manifest myself? is it just less hassle to just sell everything up here and start again in WA? and if/when we have to rtn just face that we will have to start all over again!! Or.... Put all but required items in storage in the UK? Any advice or personal scenarios would be greatly received.

  7. Not sure where to post or even start! The whole visa process has taken us 12months but the final part of it being granted has taken us by surprise. Last Friday we submitted the final info (policy checks, medicals and form 80's) and we were told it would take about 8weeks - we found out yesterday our visas have been granted (so 2 working days) and now not sure where to start! Removal/shipping flights (extra baggage) Car hire Jobs We're lucky that my brother and his family are in Tapping and are kindly putting us up to start with. I'm just not sure where to start and would welcome recommendations to help me with the above areas. Also are there cubs (scouts) in WA - my eldest daughter loves it and I want to find social activities for her to help her settle in (she's my biggest challenge for this relocation as she can be quite sensitive and recently turned 9). Thanks in advance for your assistance Kate

  14. leaving perth next month and just need to ship a few excess clothes, shoes, books etc to Liverpool. need to find a cheap shipping company for box weighing around 50kg or 2 x 25kg. if anyone knows any cheap shipping companies would be most appreciated
  15. We find the average quality of most things here to be quite poor. As an example the quality of things in B&Q in the UK is head and shoulders above its equivalent store here - Bunnings. We found the safety aspect of Bunnings stuff shocking - nails that break half way into the wall, tools that don't have basic safety mechanisms, as Druid said in a post here, spades that bend like a blade, and it all costs more than what we'd pay in the UK. Quality does seem to be an issue here, someone said the market here seems to thrive on cheap and cheerful (didn't seem cheap to me and I certainly wasn't cheerful after seeing the quality). If you're shipping, I'd recommend getting all that you possibly can.
