  1. Hi all, I have a question for those who have experience in working both in UK and Oz as a primary school teacher. I have been reading on Level 3 classroom teacher applications and senior teachers, and I'd like to get a real insite on how it would work for someone coming from the UK to work in Oz. The situation is: primary school teacher with 15 years experience, outsanding teacher, working in school management for the past 8 years, 5 of those as a Deputy Head Teacher, but also keeping some involvement in classroom. Wouldn't mind to move over to Australia and work as a classroom teacher. I read you need to be employed by the Dept of Education for you to apply for Level 3 classroom teacher, and I appreciate the complexity of portfolio, etc... My question is: can a experienced teacher from UK apply for a Level 3 classroom teacher once employed in Oz? Is the UK experience accpted for the portfolio? I know it won't be something that you'd do in your first week there, but I'm wondering if you'd have to work another 15 years in Oz to get there again? Also, I have never seen jobs advertized for level 3 classroon teachers... so how they come about? Also, what is the difference between level 3 classroom teacher and senior teacher? How do you progress from one to another? I'm just trying to get my head around on career progression and keep our expectations realistic. Thanks a lot for your insight. PS: Primary school teacher with Oz only experience are also wellcome to comment. :smile2:
  2. Morning all, Have any Secondary School teachers had any success in securing work prior to arrival in WA? The 190 VISA means I would basically be leaving a secure job in the UK with potentially no employment upon arrival in Australia. (although reading the posts on here it looks as though relief/supply work would be available) I wondered how many teachers on here managed to secure employment sponsorship for their visa prior to arrival and have any information / advice as to how they went about it? Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance, Ryan
  3. Hello I am new to this website so apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place. I am just finishing my PGCE (secondary) in ICT and am looking to work as a teacher in a British international school in Abu Dhabi. After this I plan to emigrate to Western Australia to teach without doing my UK NQT year. Does anyone know if I need to complete my UK NQT year to apply for a visa or will my experience teaching in a British international school suffice? Thank you in advance for your help. Kind regards. Chris
  4. Ho to all secondary school teachers. We are looking to move out to Perth by Oct / Nov 08 (waiting for visa 175 to be issued - posted Oct07). I've done lots of research re. the secondary education system in WA. I will soon be applying for my reg. no. from WACOT - I understand that this can be processed at any time, and they will give me my number after providing proof that my visa has been issued. What is it really like teaching in WA? Would you recommend state schools? Independent? Church schools? Why / why not? So many questions...any advice would be appreciated! Many thanks Neil
