Hi All! My name is Jamie, I am a carpenter from St. Albans, England and I am flying to Perth on March 7th on a working holiday visa. Looking to settle in Perth for a while and get some casual work, any advice on the best way to start out?!... Are there agencies for casual work seekers? Is it better to walk CV's around to different businesses? Is fruit picking a good option in WA? Would anyone likely put a level 3 carpenter to good use even without tools? Any advice would be very much appreciated! Many thanks Jamie

ScribblingSally posted a topic in Jobs, Careers, Vacancies
?? ? Would you like to work as a casual chef for our award winning, friendly restaurant? Do you have experience, enthusiasm and are competent and versatile in the kitchen? The restaurant is in North Beach. We're after someone for a fortnight from October the 28th. We're open Tues thru' Saturday. Shift starts lunchtime on-wards. This two week period would be full-time casual, with the prospect of extra work afterwards. We were recently rated a 'must-visit' in a Sunday Times review. Even though we say it ourselves, we're a great team, so come and be part of it! You would probably need your own transport, as public transport isn't that reliable. Please text Sally with your phone number on 0401 566710 with brief details of past work We look forward to hearing from you ? -

Hi all!. I'm Katie. 29 year old female from Yorkshire. I have just arrived in Perth from Melbourne and am looking to start temp work ASAP. As my working holiday visa allows me to work in the same position for 6 months at a time. My visa expires on 31st of July 2017. I have vast experience in office environments, also retail and hospitality. I was previously a PA/EA for a partnerships team in the Daily Mirror UK. I am ideally looking for an office assistant role, receptionist, secretary etc. I have applied for numerous temp agencies and am as of yet to hear back. I would welcome all help or advice on this, or if you know of anything (e.g. bar, cafe, pub, or any sort of temp work). I am currently living with relatives in Maddington and am wiling to travel for work. THANK YOU!

Hi Everyone From what i can see all ready this forum is the place to get the advice and the information needed.... We are a couple looking at moving to Perth within the next 3 years, we have friends in Perth (well will have when she moves back), who will be based on Margret River. We are planning a reccie in July August (i know it wont be sunny and will rain but school holidays and fines needs must)..... we are staying in Jindalee and will be traveling around exploring and looking forward to the time before moving on to Sydney for the 3rd part of our trip. Our children are currently 6, girl and 4, boy. We are still in the very early stages as looking at moving in the form of looking into visa's and the process and saving some more pennies to help fund the move. Myself i am and Health Informatics Performance Analyst and am aware that i need to do a skills test and wondered if anyone have done one in the UK and when would you look at doing one now or wait nearer the time? ( i would be applying for a skilled visa) My wife is a home maker working part time in retail but is also a qualified nursery nurse. One of our children is adopted has anyone had to complete the visa for children adopted please? We would like to bring our 2 dalmations with us and wondered what vaccinations they would require please? Is there a friendly LGBT culture and places to meet with like minded people and families well that it basically in a nut shell if anyone can think of anything to do in Perth's winter would also be helpful please thank you in advance xxx :-)

I'm considering studying in Perth for a year, but have concerns about the cost of living there. Does anyone know if I'd be able to do a few hours work a week on a student visa? Thanks.

Hi to anyone reading this post. I stepped foot into Perth 5 days ago with my girlfriend we are both 30 and looking to emigrate here and both have working holiday visas. 2 days ago I had an interview with volkswagen ahg group and was offered a job as a car salesmen which has been my career for the last8 years, only problem is I don't have the correct visa, I needed a 457 working visa to complete. Really frustrating as this is not a sponsored career recognised on that particular visa. Being more than capable at most things with a professional background i.e customer service, sales and marketing, I'm desperately now trying to find work here in Perth and live the dream with my better half. If anyone has any suggestions or can help it would be greatly appreciated. I'm still here in Perth WA until the 27th. I look forward to hearing from you all the best.

Hi, I have gained enough points to submit my EOI for a schedule 2 role. I am aware that once I have submitted my EOI and received an invitation back I will have 28 days to apply. I am also aware that after I have applied I have to email them a 12 month contract of full-time employment offer. I am just wondering the following things: How long it takes approximately from submitting the EOI to receiving an invitation? How long after applying do they allow you to show them proof of a contract of employment? (28 days seems a very short amount of time to find a job and be successful in obtaining it) Can the contract be for volunteer work as long as it is in the correct field of work? Is the 3 month processing time from the date of EOI Submission? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Anyone who is currently or has been through this process please shed some light. I am unsure how i can find a job when I dont know how long it is going to take for the visa to be sorted out? So when am i meant to tell them i could start etc. Thanks.

Hi all I am currently in the process of trying to start working for myself in the refrigeration and air conditioning trade. I have been in Perth nearly a year now, have been in the trade 12 years, and now want a new challenge. If anyone knows of any companies who may need any sub contractors in the coming months any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I can install, maintain and repair all types of air conditioning and refrigeration and take great pride in my work. Hope some of you can help out there. :smile2:

Hi, Myself and my partner are looking to move to Perth but we are worried about finding employment. We have heard that both electricians and social work jobs are in high demand but not sure where to look for work. We are applying for a state sponsorship visa and looking for work in the meantime and just wanted to know if it is likely that employers recruit people from overseas. Also where is the best place to search for work? Any help and advice is much appreciated!

Hi there, this is my second post to the site, my partner and I have our hearts set on moving to Perth, I working as an Account Manager in an advertising agency, and my partner working in the asbestos industry as a Surveyor and Contracts Manager, we're both in our 30s. We have been looking into our options of how we get to Oz, and other than finding a company to sponsor us (we have been applying to lots of jobs on seek). We were wondering where we stood with getting a holiday visa and organising interviews/meetings for this time, and then potentially moving the visa if we find work, has anyone done this, or know anyone that has? Any advice will be hugely appreciated, we just can't wait to get out there! Thanks.

Hi Everyone, We are one step closer to getting to Oz with out 176 Visa coming in any day now. My deliema is that we have one son and would love another baby now but do we wait and have it in Oz or have it now and put off the actual move for a while? Im thinking if we stayed in the UK to have another baby we'd have the maternity pay and also my company maternity pay but it would be more financially difficult in Oz? Anyone give any advice? what are the options for New Mothers in Oz??
