Uk20z
Hi all, my wife is a qualified nurse with 10 mths post graduate experience. Is there 457 visa sponsorships available with just this experience or do you need 2 years min? If ok with 10 mths exp how do we go about finding a sponsor. We want to live SOR Fremantle area and would like to be over there ASAP. thanks, paul. CarolineD82
I think it depends on your age. Your best bet I would imagine is Perth city hospital. Maybe she could email them? Sorry not sure on post grad experience needed but hopefully someone on here will be able to offer you some better advice.
Uk20z
Thanks for the reply,we are going to try all the hospitals and speak to a migration agent who should be able to advise us.
verystormy
I would strongly advise you to look at perm migration rather than 457. There are some nasty restrictions on a 457 and a member on here recently fell foul of them and is now back in the UK as a result
Uk20z
Ok thanks for the info, we would like to be over there asap and the perm does take a while is it 12-18mths? If we can we wanted to be there in 3mths.
ali
PR is the best way - I've known hospitals say they will assist with PR and then there has been a freeze. Do remember that as a 457 holder you will be on a fixed term temporary contract (not classed as a permanent employee), you're also tied to the authority you work for ..... things like going for promotions elsewhere mean that you have to see if someone else will take over your sponsorship. Uk20z
Thanks Ali, would we be able to go over on a 457 visa but set the ball rolling with a PR visa aswell or is this not an option? Also does the hospital sponsor you or the trust/area? thanks.
ali
It's the trust/area if it's public, private hospitals might - but you will be tied to them. You'll need to check out what you need to pass the skills assessment (in terms of experience), if you applied for off shore PR and were in the country - you'd have to leave when the visa was being granted.
