whaleshark
Hi all... We'v been planning to our move to Aus for about a year now. My GF got her visa granted the other day, and I have PR, so it's all go. I'm not really asking a question , just sharing a few jitters and general worries about it. We are looking forward to moving out to Perth, but there is so much to do beforehand... get a fixed morgage deal in place so we can then rent out the house, get as much money together as possible, decide on a suburb to stay in, worry about employment etc... It's all good, but a bit stressful, time to put on our rose tinted glasses and get on with it! Seriously though, it will be fun and we are looking forward to it! portia7224
Hi there, it has taken us a year in total to secure our sponsorship and visas we booked our flights on saturday so now it's all real we just have the stress of knowing when to send our stuff in the container and to get somewhere booked over there for when we arrive. We are thinking holiday home for a few weeks while we find somewhere to live. My husband has a job in welshpool so we're looking at areas around there. We are currently having sleepless nights and our minds are working over time and we can't think about anything else it's taking over, so i share your anxiousness it's a surreal time, but people keep telling us it's going to be worth it and i look at the present climate in this country and it can't be any worse over there!! Good luck

Good luck after reading another thread here today about the downturn in the Perth economy, I had something else to worry about. Great. The last thing any of us want is to get over there and there aren't any jobs to sustain the dream, to justify the upheaval. As the day progressed I then started thinking that the Oz economy has got to be better than all the doom and gloom here. At least the sunshines there and as far as I know they are not trying to reduce an enormous deficit. The only positive thing I have heard about our economy in the past 6 years, was today. The BBC news this morning said Britain has the biggest supply of 'FRACKING' (or is that 'Frack'?). It may cause earth shudders, but hey, at least it is money maker!! ali
Congratulations .. nerves are good and very realistic - you're taking a big step. Remember that it doesn't have to be forever, keep an open mind, expect it to be different and enjoy the adventure.
