Levi 10 Report post Posted August 9, 2013 hi can anyone help my husband has been told he needs to score 9 in all sections of the ILETS for us to get the points we need for visa can this be done as it seems most people only need a pass 9 in all sections? I'd say impossible, even for native speakers. Perhaps 8 in every module, but not 9. Where are your skills assessed? What visa did you choose?
lynnpaul 10 Report post Posted August 10, 2013 Hi debs we need 20 points my husband has to get 8 in all sections sorry I thought it was 9 so I suppose it can be done thanks for your help
travelchic 11 Report post Posted August 10, 2013 Make sure he chooses the correct IELTS. There are 2. Academic and general. The listening and speaking in both are the same. Just the reading and writing that are different. My skills assessment required academic which is slightly harder, but for points you can do general. Try looking at http://www.ielts-exam.net for free practice material. I used the website loads. good luck Debs

CarolineD82 10 Report post Posted September 24, 2013 sorry to hear that Levi. I'm still awaiting my enquiry result. It's been over 10 weeks wait now...very frustrating! I've rang twice only to get the same response- there's a back log from the summer as its their busiest time so ill get it when it's done basically. They didn't say that before taking my £60 fee though! Caroline.
Levi 10 Report post Posted September 24, 2013 Thank you all. @Osfarooq: I don't really believe in luck, but thanks for your message. @Lou8670: The email said that there is no change in the band score for the remarked part (speaking). Debs: I am not taking another test this year (there's one at the end of October in the test center nearest to me), maybe next year. Since I am unemployed now, my next move is to find a job, and I will take it from there. Caroline: I got my result in 7 weeks (via Bucharest-London and back). You'll get it when they are done with it - you are absolutely right. Like I said: this is not about luck, this is a business, that involves money. You know what I'm talking about. CarolineD82 10 Report post Posted September 24, 2013 Best wishes in finding a job. And hope that when you do manage to re-sit the exam you get the band you need.
Guest kay_82 Report post Posted March 18, 2014 I will add my two cents: I too think it's somewhat of a scam because many people seem to 'fail' by half of a mark. Why does IELTS ask in the registration form why do I want to take the test and if I am migrating by chance to Australia, New Zealand, etc. Plus, we get no feedback, we cannot take a look at our corrected test papers and so on. I completely agree with Caroline: "poor system/service and an expensive one at that" Cornishpoms: 7 attempts ?? That's .. well there's no word for it. Amy, where and who is this trading standards? I too have thought about complaining somewhere, somehow .. The IELTS needs to be slimmed down to "here is my ID, here is my money" Hi Levy, My heart goes out for you and your hard work, Here is the link of the radio show which proves that how dodgy IELTS is. http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/backgroundbriefing/language-barriers/2948964
Levi 10 Report post Posted March 18, 2014 @kay_82 : Thanks for the link. Will have a look at it asap. Update : Haven't been on this site since maybe November, got a little bit busy, family visits and so on. It's March now and only got a job last week. We've been thinking and maybe we will go for a family reunification type of visa, will not leave mom behind. We still have to document ourselves what are the requirements for this visa.
