Can't comment of the actual service, obviously they received a fair degree of negative publicity at the end of last year when they went into administration, jettisoned the company pension scheme then came back out of administration - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-20592674

I guess, for any removals company, things to check are if they're members of scheme's such as

Then, in relation to the marine insurance, insure your shipment with a mainstream household name insurer

- make sure they are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (previously the Financial Services Authority) as this will give you a significant amount of protection and recourse in the event of a problem.

- make sure you have the full contact name and email address of the Insurer's Complaints Dept. This will shown be in the standard Terms and Conditions of any bona fida Insurance Policy.

- make sure you are buying insurance and not a scheme where the remover accepts liability under their Trading Conditions for any loss as you then have to deal with the remover in the event of a claim (rather than with an insurance company) and who, for obvious reasons, will be less keen to settle your claim.

Hi, we used Pickfords and the service overall was excellent, the packers were outstanding. Our container has just arrived and the guys who delivered were also fantastic. My only complaint was that the Jo who came to assess didn't get it right, not all would fit in the container - quite stressful at the time, so I have a few items still in the UK that need shipping and they want to charge me extra for it. I would say if you use them get an absolute guarantee that they have seen all there is to move and get that in writing or in an email. Be aware that if you want delivery to a 2nd floor or above it will cost extra, also you will have to pay customs clearance once your container arrives, approx $320+.

I have been reading immigration forums for years and have not yet come across any removalist who should either be avoided or should be engaged above all others. I have read good and bad stories on each.

As for myself, well I used Pickfords. My container arrived within 9 weeks, a couple of small damages but I have sensible expectations and always thought that there was bound to be something or other. So overall nothing to complain about, but I have moved overseas before and nothing to shout about either. Really, they are much of a muchness.

Hi ya...

Try Crown relocation....they include the Aquis fee, they were slightly cheaper than Pickfords and they said 12/13 weeks...we got our stuff in 12 weeks....service was excellent, removal guys were very thorough and treated our shipment very well...

Thanks

Steve.
