GMAC
Hi all, I am a bit guttered this morning. Did not get what I needed to score a 7 in all four test. Listening 6, Reading 6, Writting 6.5 and Speaking 9. Oh well here we go to booked a retest.
georgiasmammy
Hi GMac, Don't be disheartened, at least the next time around you'll know what to expect. Hubby had to resit ielts and passed with all 7s the 2nd time. He didn't really revise for the 1st time but 2nd time he sat a few mock tests online and did really well. Good luck for the re-test x

Millie1978
Hi we know exactly how you feel. My husband recieved his results this morning and got the exact same score as you on each of the exams. This was his 2 nd attempt and actually did much better the first time. We think its all a money racket as no one seems to pass first time. Good luck next time xxx
Floorman
Hi, I know exactly how you are feeling. I had to sit this pointless exam 6 times to get all 8s for the 190 visa , i kept missing out by .5 on the writing section & thought about throwing the towel in on numerous times but kept going & practicing to push myself to get there. One piece of advice I got of a poster on here was when you fill the application form in , when they ask for the reason you are sitting this exam do not disclose it is for migration purposes, tick the box for personal reasons. I did this on my 6th attempt & scored 8.5 in writing, call me a conspiracy theorist but who knows? Anyway dont give up you will get there in the end. Good luck. nikkiwd
sorry he has to resit, i'm sure he will get it next time, just practise as much as possible. We also read about not disclosing the test was for migration purposes before we booked so we ticked the 'personal reasons' box when we filled in the application...hubby got 7.5 in all but 7 in writing (he only needed 7's too) and that was with only doing 2 practice tests beforehand, he was so nervous about the whole thing he avoided it until 2 days before! Millie1978
Hi all . I'm really feeling sorry for myself today, I was so gutted this morning when I got my results. This was my second results and I did much better the first time. Got caught out on the listening ,reading and the writing and I thought I did much better. Is anyone in the same dilema ? The whole thing is so stressful, sitting another one next Saturday just don't see how I'm going to get all 8's . just don't know what to do? Any advice would be appreciated

I bought a book from amazon to familiarise with the test and practice a little, Cambridge something or other, it was four years ago now so can't remember exactly. flatpack
Not sure where you are Millie1978 but Harrogate Language College do lessons for IELTS, they actually do the tests in Leeds so they know what they are doing. I'm sure all the other test centres will offer something similar. Good Luck p.s. In the months running up to my test, I was super critical with my spelling and punctuation. Checking and rechecking that it was correct. Text messages are the easiest thing to shorten and miss punctuation out. If you condition yourself to doing it all the time it comes natural and you do it automatically which helps in your test.

We both passed (achieved 8+) first time. Although we're both academic and draft a lot of written papers in our day jobs...and we still did lots of practice papers beforehand. I think if your day job doesn't involve writing and reading/interpreting data you might find the IELTS tough. Practice practice is all I can say!
