NicNox85
Hello PerthPoms Ladies & Gents I am looking to emigrate to Perth in early 2015, giving me about 18 months. I qualified to be a Registered Nurse in September 2012, thus I have been working on a gynae ward for nearly one year. I am 28 years years old and have no dependents. However, I unfortunately have a criminal record from 2003 when I was 18 years old. I was just wondering if anybody could give me some advice, I am hoping to aooly for the Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 175). Any information or advice would be great. DyLeB
The 175 visa does not exist anymore since 1 July 2012 - the now equivalent visa would be 189. With your age - you could consider a WHV to get you out to Australia, and get sponsored, with no dependents on your own may be a good option, give you a chance to find where you want to settle. If you are looking at applying for PR, you will need to sit the Academic IELTS, and get skills assessed by ANMAC, and register with APHRA, you would be looking at about £2.5 - 3k to get PR. Where a WHV you would just need to register with APHRA, and I believe will only need to do modified ANMAC assessment, after working in Australia, so wont need to do the Academic IELTS. As for your criminal record, you will have to declare this, but as you work as a Nurse, it cant be too bad?? It would be worth speaking to a Registered Migration Agent regarding the criminal conviction to see if this would pose a problem, but with statement regarding what happened and how you have changed in last 10 years it would be fine. Overseas Emigration are one to contact with criminal records, but Go Matilda and Visa Bureau are both good agents to contact. You dont need to use an agent, but worth getting advice, many give a free initial consolation.
