RMN seeking jobs advice

Hi guys,

I am new to this site. Thought that I would put out feelers for advice regarding process to apply for jobs. It has been suggested that I sign to an agency. I have 189 visa status and am waiting on conformation from Ahpra re registration. I am a community mental health nurse, degree level with 20 + years experience.

Any suggestions would be really helpful.

Can't wait to get going and get those flgihts booked to leave the UK. We are so excited about this all as its felt like a very lengthy process.

thanks

KazG

Start looking on seek.com and jobs wa for posts and apply for them. There may not be a lot of community positions so be prepared to go and work on the wards and wait for the posts to come up so you can apply for them. Most of the jobs will have an additional selection criteria - you must address this as if you don't it will be difficult for them to short list you. http://www.perthpoms.com/forum/jobs-careers/9378-applying-nursing-jobs-wa-pointers-application.html

Hi, I'm also an RMN awaiting AHPRA registration and like you Kaz, keen to get going! I'm going for the state sponsorship route and can't apply for anything until Im registered but I have been liaising with a nursing agency over there who have told me that the current job market for overseas nurses is very slow. I am a little disheartened by this and wandered whether anyone else has also been told this (and what 'a bit slow' really means in terms of percentage of job offers to applications).

Ive been browsing the WA DoH site but as mentioned cant apply for anything until registered. I have no problem with working on a ward and have seen that there are some quite large units in or around the area that we would like to move to. I understand that every application will be different but I wandered what others experiences were from start of application to landing in Oz? Originally the agency told me up to 3 months for AHPRA plus approximately 3 months for jobapplications/interviews to leaving (including the final step of visa requirements-med & police checks). I'd appreciate any advice and / or shared experiences. Thanks guys ;)
