Im finally getting my container of stuff from uk delivered next week,so be busy trying to set up and get things into place in our rental,in our rental we have a foxtel dish which im not sure we will use as its just a item we dont want to pay out for right at this time.

And i see there is an ariel on the roof,i was wondering when we come to set up our plasma which is about 4 years old if not older,we need a digibox etc so we can get tv,anyone tell me if these need an ariel to work them?

Reason i ask is back in the uk all i had was a sky dish and i got my channels from there so no need for an ariel etc,so can anyone tell me what these new digiboxes need to work just plug into tv and your away or need an ariel to work?

Anyone recommend any brand,or certains ones i should maybe look at as i can shop around and see what they are going for.

Ok i could use foxtel but this is extra money we need to pay for this and its not really needed at this time, maybe later on.

Your help on this would be great.

Yes you need the ariel, digi box from $20 to $100 depending on what you want, basic no frills or recording etc

look at target, big w, Kmart, dick smith, jb hi fi

you don't get the free to air channels on Foxtel so you would still need a digi box to get these

Alternatively, and I realise I'm in a minority here, you could ditch the TV and just go the internet route.

We have Apple TV so as well as iTunes movies we have Vimeo and Youtube for entertainment. We can also stream anything from our laptops to the Apple TV too so if it's on the net we can watch it on our TV.

Granted, we don't really watch TV in the same sense as most others but we do have access to anything on demand, not what the broadcasters dictate.
