hello all at perth poms,

me and my wife are coming to perth and the wa coast for a 2 week holiday this november

i will be visisting family, checking perth city out and the beaches, looking around a couple of houses maybe speak to a couple of companies etc etc

what i am wanting from you guys is other 'must do' things or other amazing places that arent the obvious ones or most famous ones etc, to go and check out, we are prepared to drive up or down the coast from perth and do a bit of exploring!

are there any amazing 'best kept secret' beaches or beauty spots?

any help or ideas greatly apreciated

thanks

The beaches of Perth are great with plenty for everyone from shallow lagoon at Yanchep, to jumping the waves at City Beach, concerts and competitions at Scarbourgh, family fun at Coogee to name but a few.

For sheer beauty the beaches at Rottnest are hard to beat, hire a bike and cycle round.

Dont forget the river too, so many great spots, why not stop for a bit of lunch at the Left Bank pub/restaurant and watch the boats go by. Another lovely river spot is Point Walter in Bicton, perfect for getting a feel of how the locals spend their down time.

Have a great holiday

All of the above and maybe a trip to the theatre, Crown Casino has a lovely theatre complex and the gardens are lovely to visit and have a picnic by the river or even a helicopter ride, which takes off and lands in the grounds of the Crown Casino. A Swan River cruise either a lunch or lunch and winery visit, its a great day out. You can get a ferry to Freo too and have lunch on the boat. There is Whiteman Park where you can feed the kangaroos and hold a wombat (very heavy). Kahuna is also a wildlife park up in the hills. A trip to the markets in various places usually at weekends in different suburbs. Freo has a regular market. Fish and chips at Freo. A visit to the Museum of WA (free). High tea at the C Restaurant (revolving restaurant with views over the city). Further afield is Yanchep National Park. A Kings Park picnic/visit is a must. A night visit to Beaufort Street, walk along the streets filled with many different restaurants various types of food. Hawker Markets in the city on a Friday night will have started in November too, I think. Wine tour to the Swan Valley and Margaret River Chocolate Factory.
