Baby on Subclass 101 - Can we get child benifit?

Hi

We are arriving in Australia in the new year as Permanent Residents. Unfortunately timing issues means we are having to apply for a Child Subclass 101 visa for our new born as we have already been granted our visas.

Does anyone know if we are still entitled to child benefit?

Says on immi website that we have to support the child in first two years but centrelink mentions you are entitled if parents are PR's

Would be ideal if someone else has arrived in the same circumstances or knows someone who has.

Thank you

I understood that your child had to be born to PR visa holders living in Australia before you could claim child benefits. In which case of course they would be Australian Citizens. But having said that I am not totally sure of this, so it might be worth contacting Centrelink and asking them the question. Be interested in the answer though when you get one.
