jo and scott
hi, I was just wondering, what address do you put on your shipping paperwork if you are staying in a holiday let until you find your rental ?? does the container stay on the quay in storage if your not ready for your stuff to be delivered. or would you unpack it all and then repack - sorry, this sounds a really stupid question ! portlaunay
Any address will do, you can change it at any time. If it arrives and you're not in your 'home' then it's your call whether you are willing to unpack and pack it up again. If you choose not to your shipping company should be able to arrange storage but of course there is likely to be a cost for this (not sure how much). SJT
Hi Not a stupid question at all, most probably one that crosses everyone's mind who is emigrating, especially mine. I even rang the removal company to double check. We gave them our long term rental address which was for eight weeks but also gave them our uk email address which we knew we would have access to. We had not been in Perth for a week when we received an email just confirming the container had left, was on its way with a estimated date of arrival. They also attached a delivery form for the container asking what the road was like for delivery, how many floors etc. I just emailed them back saying that we had not found our long term rental but would contact them as soon as we had with these details and they said that was fine. Our container cleared customs a week before we needed it, when they rang to confirm delivery we just said we wanted delivery for a week later and they were fine about and I think because it was not in their "hands" for long, we never got charged, I am not sure at what point they start to charge storage. They are so use to people not having the exact details when they book the container, as so many do not know their long term address details, new phone etcs they are prepared to wait for all the information they need. Good luck with the move. Sarah

ROB T
Any contact address in Perth will suffice for the time being (temporary rental or whatever) . The shipping company will then contact you probably via email or mobile and will send you further forms to fill in including your intended delivery address. Our container will hopefully now pass Quarantine after clearing Customs in the last couple of days. Once released the shipment will then be collected by the removal company who will store it at their premises until we are ready to take delivery. They offer 10 days inclusive storage and will charge on a daily basis beyond this. This timescale should give you plenty of time to get sorted. AndyandJo
We were told by Pickfords to put TBA . The shipping company will contact you when your shipment arrives to confirm.
Plimthing
We left it blank. You will get a call/email from your shipping company to advise you that your container is in Freemantle. They usually tell you at the same time you have a bill to be paid !!If you don't have a permanent address by then it will be held in storage at your cost (unless you aranged with movers a period built in to the fee). Our move was painless, they only destroyed 2 artificial christmas trees because they had real pine cones on them!
