medicals advice please...

Hi I know there are thousands of posts on medicals and timelines but I was wondering if anyone had had medicals in Edinburgh and how long they had to wait for a weekend appointment. I have been told I cannot take the kids out of school for this so we really must go at a weekend. I read that once CO allocated you have 28 days to upload the medicals, is that correct? is the clinic in Edinburgh busy and would I be better booking them sooner- we wanted to wait a while to save up a bit more cash!!

TIA!

hi Janine, we had ours in Edinburgh. When I rang to book them they told me they didn't do the visa medicals on a weekend so I made an appointment for 2pm and took my daughter out of school at lunch time.I just told school she had an appointment and they didn't say anything about it. I only booked the appointment 10 days before and got a choice of times and days so they were not that busy.

I believe you have 28 days to prove you have booked your medicals, but you don;t have to actually have them within the 28 days. Here is the quote from our email form our migration agent:

'You are likely to be allocated a case officer in around 8-9 weeks. If you wait for the case officer to request the medicals and police checks they will give you 28 days to show evidence of booking the medicals and applying for the police checks. You should be able to get a medical appointment relatively quickly and can always call up your nearest clinic to check this.'

Janine, my visa (190) was lodged on 10th oct but I had my medical early. Was assigned a CO 12th nov. just over 4 weeks. Not sure what visa you're going on but you might not have to wait that long you know.

Debs

189 Debs, was hoping to string out paying for medicals until after chrimbo after footing a five grand bill for visa gulp! hohoho xx

Hi Janine

Raychel is right; you just have to prove you have booked your medicals. We booked our meds in advance of being allocated a case officer as we also had to book flights and wanted to do them in half term. The website said 8-9 weeks to be allocated a case officer but we were allocated one 10 days after lodging!!! Our meds were booked for 30 days later! But we sent them a copy of the appointment letter and all was fine.

Be warned, the advice of having 28 days to book medicals/Police Checks is a generic rule. Many visas require proof of medical/police check application at time of visa lodgement.

Always check the criteria upon application, so as not to make an invalid application

Your right to advise to check, and of course the rules change all the time or may be different depending on the visa you're applying for, however Janine is applying for a 189 so she's good to not book the meds until her case officer requests her to .
