EOI please advise...

Hi everyone,

I am a newcomer to this forum.

I would be very grateful if you could help me with my EOI.

I wonder if it’s possible to claim points only for job history that I listed for skills assessment (VETASSESS) or for the whole job experience related to an occupation.

Thanks in advance!

HI There

We were advised by our Migration Agent when they lodged our EOI that you can only claim points for the work experience you have received a skills assessment for. So for my husband (a carpenter) he has 15 years work experience but his skills assessment was based on the last 8 years so that was all we claimed for.

Here is the email advice they sent us:

Under your work experience-the system automatically awards points based on any employment that we have stated “yes” to the question“Is this employment related to thenominated occupation?” Although your previous employment is also relevant, as we are not providing evidence of this we need to answer “no”. The score stated in the invitation to apply for the visa will be based on the EOI - so if it transpires upon the submission of documentation and assessment by the DIAC case officer that the points claimed in the EOI were too high the visa application will be refused. Therefore I have listed the whole period of your employment but only answered “yes” to the period we wish to claim points for.

Hope this helps

Raychel

I think you have misunderstood the OPs question or misunderstood what your agent said to you.

Your agent looks to me to have applied a strategy of applying for no more work experience points than are absolutely necessary, I think 8 is the maximum and there are no more points to be had after then, so there was no point providing evidence of 15 years of work experience.

OP is asking a completely different question, they have asked if the work experience examined by vetasses has to be the same as the work experience claimed on the visa. The answer is no it does not, they might only need to show 3 years of experience to vetassess but actually want to claim for 8 years experience in the visa application and this is perfectly ok.

Ok well let's see what the OP replies, as I have re-read and it still looks to me like he is asking if he can claims point for job history that he has not listed in his skills assessment. Our agent, as in the quote says you can only claim points for that which you have provided evidence for. If this isn't the case, how would you prove that the job history is true? Apologies if I have mislead, as all posters on here, I was merely trying to help. :)

Agreed, that is definitely what he asked.

No your agent said you were not going to provide evidence for experience you have not claimed points for in your *visa application*. Not your skills assessment.

Hi everyone,

I’d like to thank all of you for your comments and for you kind help.

In fact my question was exactly as Rupert explained, i.e. should the work experience examined by vetasses has to be the same as the work experience claimed on the visa?

For vetasess assessment I showed 7 years of employment.

For visa application I want to show 8 years, since I have 1 more year of related work experience. Moreover I can provide essential evidence for this (reference letter and pay slips).

Raychelsb, you are right as well, since I was asking if I can claims point for job history that I have not listed in my skills assessment. And as far as I understand from your comments I can claim point for all job history related to an occupation only if I can provide essential evidence for each year of employment. Am I right?

Once again thanks a lot!

Hi Coldplay, that is how I understand it yes, you have to provide evidence. Which is why I was confused earlier because we also had work experience relvant to the occupation but we were told that because we had only 8 years proven on our skills assessment, we could only claim 8 years worth of points on our EOI. So although all my husbands employment is listed back 15 years on the EOI and it is all in the same field relating to his skilled visa occupation, our agent put NO to the question of 'Is this employment related to the nominated occupation' because we were not providing evidence of that whole period. It is a minefield this whole process which is why I am using an agent :) All I can tell you is what we did, I appreciate everyone has different scenarios. Good luck with it all. :)

Hi There

I'm really sorry i can't advise on that one, we have not applied for sponsorship, our visa app is for a 189 PR visa.

I am sure someone else may help...

All the best :)

Hi Raychelsb,

Do you mind if I ask you one more question? :-)

I should pay state sponsorship fee of 200 AUD after just submitting of my EOI or after receiving an invitation through SS?

Thanks in advance!
