Hello

It is me again :wubclub:

So we are back on it full steam ahead on getting our PR visa!! Please could some of you lovely people help me/confirm what we need to do…!?

So a bit of background for those who do not know

Husband is going to be the main applicant, there is also me and 2 little JP's! Mr JP is a Carpenter. So is the following correct?

1) Complete and pass IELTS

2) Complete and pass Vetassess

3) Apply for WA Sponsorship (do we have to complete 1 and 2 before completing this one, or can it be done first?)

4) Complete EOI…?? When is this done? Do we then wait to be invited to apply?

4. A) Then Apply and Pay for Visa??

5) Upload evidence when requested

6) Have Meds and PC done when requested (or can you have them done sooner and if so what are the time scales etc of how long they are valid for?)

7) Have Visa granted…?!

Thanks a million! I really appreciate it!! I had found most of this stuff out myself but my laptop lost all my work files and we can't get them back so I am just trying to piece together a timeline of things to do….

Have a great day and thanks again in advance to anyone who can help :wubclub:

Best advise I can give is- check points and see what visa you can apply for ( carpenters where on the main wanted list as I think all states want them )....then work step by step gathering what docs etc you are told to provide.....slowly but surely ( and a lot lighter in the pocket ) you'll get to the end ! Good luck :jiggy:

Hiya,

That's more or less the process we followed (but it was 6 months ago and I think there have been some changes recently so it may be worth checking out the immi website)

With regard to the WA sponsorship you need to have IELTS and Skills assessed before you apply. Once you have the sponsorship confirmed then you can lodge the EOI. Being on a State sponsored you should get the Invitation to Apply fairly quickly (within a couple of weeks? But this can vary). Then yep you pay and apply for the visa.

We had our meds and police checks done in advance but you have to bear in mind that the date of these will be used to work out the Final Entry Date, which is the date by which you have to validate the visa. It is based on one year after the date of the meds and/or police check (whichever is earlier). If there are any delays/referrals to the application you could find yourself with little or no time in which to validate. For most it's not a problem but just worth being aware. Not sure how long the actual checks are valid for though...sorry.

Hope that helps!

Hi JP,

Just for your ref, my husband and I have just lodged our visa app 2 weeks ago and are awaiting a case officer to be allocated. My husband is is also a carpenter, passed his IELTS in July with 10 points, passed his skills assessment paper based in August with VETASSESS, had a technical interview and passed in September. We then lodged our EOI in October and on the second round of invites go our invite, so only had to wait 2 weeks, and we only had the minimum of 60 points. So just so you know, in case you wanted to try without state sponsorship.

We have been told it takes about 8 - 9 weeks for case officer to be allocated and it is up to us if we want to have medicals and pc's before we are asked.

Good luck with it all

Raychel.

Just to add to what others have said. I got my positive skills assessment in August (social worker), IELTS passed second time of trying (needed 8s or above) in September. EOI submitted October then about two weeks later got invite to apply for WA SS and did this on 24th October. Got email back from them 22nd November to say they would update Skill Select. Skill Select confirmed this today and have applied for my visa today!! :jiggy:

I plan on applying for medicals before CO is allocated. Is that right about the time to enter Australia - a year after the medicals? I plan on moving sometime between July and September next year.

Thanks

Debbie
