Kaiser
Hi all. I hope someone can help me. I am a little confused about changing a UK driving Licence to a WA licence. I am not sure which category I fall into. I passed my test in the UK in September this year (in readiness for coming over) so now hold a full licence but prior to that have held a provisional licence for a number of years - learning to drive on and off but that experience amounts to over 2 years. Do I fall into the Novice 1 or 2 category or full licence as I have held a licence for some time albeit provisional until September. I am totally confused by the Australia system. Any experience with this that anyone can share I would be most grateful for. Thank you in anticipation.

My understanding is that you will need to sit a driving test and then once passed you will have to do 25 hours of supervised driving over a 6 month period before getting your first set of P plates and able to drive unsupervised. Kaiser
Thanks Arwen. My understanding from the information on the website is that I don't have to do the test or the 25 hours as licence is from recognised country . It's just the Category I am confused over. verystormy
You won't have to do any tests. You will be a given a cat C. Just pop down to licensing with a load of ID / proof of address and they will change it over for you. Takes about 5 mins.
Arwen
If you are under 25 and haven't had your licence for a certain length of time you have sit the test and do 25 hours of driving and then the P plates.

I called in to do mine but needed the Medicare card as they don't take just the receipt they give you anymore.... I found them very helpful so I would suggest just go down there and they will give you the correct info first time.... thanks
Kaiser
I am 31 so won't have to do any tests but I am still unsure whether I will be classed as a Novice 1 or 2 or full licence as had my provisional for a few years before passing.
