kirsty81
I have a telephone interview for the position of Medical Laboratory Scientist and wondering if anyone has had an interview for such a role and if so, any pointers or advise? Many thanks Kirsty
Lou8670
Wow, well done on your interview and good luck! Only piece of advice I have if your interview is on skype or FaceTime is to try and look at the camera and not the picture of who you are talking to. Sounds odd but if your on the receiving end and you're looking at the picture it looks as though you're not looking at the person you're talking to! It's tricky so may need a bit of practice! Happy little Vegemite
I have a telephone interview for the position of Medical Laboratory Scientist and wondering if anyone has had an interview for such a role and if so, any pointers or advise? Many thanks Kirsty Congratulations on getting an interview! I had a phone interview a few weeks ago for a medical scientist position and just found out this morning that I wasn't successful, so my advice would be to do better than me I haven't sought feedback yet but when I do I will pass on any tips that I get. I found it really hard on the phone not being able to read body language to know if I was waffling along the right lines or not. My interview was for a government position and my advice would be that they stuck entirely to the selection criteria in the interview. When is your interview, let us know how you get on, good luck! Rossmoyne
If the position you are applying for is a government position, bear in mind that everyone will get exactly the same questions and you will all be marked on yor answers. Remember that when you answer to use the SAO approach. Set the scene..... talk about the Action that you took..... talk about the Outcome of your actions..... It is all about proving that you understand the question and can show that you have or can deal with a set situation. Good Luck! Telephone interviews are not easy for interviewees or interviewers.....unless the interview is on video skype, the missing body language can be a let down for people on both sides of the equation. kirsty81
Thank you everyone for help. It is just a telephone call which I think, as you said, will be impossible to get a concept of the body language. On top of that my Scottish accent!!! Aussies never seem to understand me. Thanks Cath for the heads up. My friend went for a position in Glasgow recently as Biomedical Scientist and they asked alot about quality indicators, QC, audit trails etc and was worried they would ask about. Much appreciated everyone!!
