jamesw
You might want to look to see if there is an airport hotel. I know there is one at KL which rents rooms out by the hour.
verystormy
There is a hotel within the airport if you want to get some sleep and they offer rates for passengers with a long wait. The Maharaja lounge which is a bit like a business lounge can be accessed for about $25 - it provides more comfortable seating, free drinks including booze and free food - though the quality isnt great. There are hundreds of shops and restaurants in the airport with everything from champagne bars to burger places. Make sure you make a note of which gate you are going from on the connecting flight as soon as you arrive as it can be a long way between gates / terminals

StraighttothePoint
Make sure you make a note of which gate you are going from on the connecting flight as soon as you arrive as it can be a long way between gates / terminals Great advice. Last time I was there to change flights arrived at one terminal and then it was a flaming train ride to the departure gate at the other terminal!! In 8 years of travelling into, and out from, Dubai I have never experinenced that before. I think I came into A or B and had to leave from C - would that be right? Anyway it is well worth noting this for any oldies that are travelling out - oldy, oldies if you know what I mean - because it takes a good bit of time between terminals if that happens. If you only have two hours for example, which is the case for some transfers, I would advise going straight to the departure terminal and not hanging around wasting any time in the arrival terminal, i.e. if you need a wee wee hold it in
verystormy
Yep, A and B are together. To get to terminal C is a train ride. Flights to Perth "normally go from A or B. But flights coming in from Europe and Africa normally land at C They ask for passengers to be at the gate 45 mins before flight and it can be essential as sometimes its a 15 min bus ride from the gate to the plane. If you are a Skywards member then if you have at least silver status you can use the business class lounge which is very good.
Judilc
If you have 10 hours get yourself out of ther and head to Dubai mall. If you hold a British passport it is free to exit in Dubai, check your hand luggage into the property hold and get a taxi over, there is so much to do at the mall not just shopping. Aquarium and art plus fab restaurants outside by the 'lake' in the shade of the burj khalifa ( you can go up this as well if you like, we've done it and its good) and if its after 6pm you can see the dancing fountain show. Definetly worth a visit, 10 hours, even in an airport as equipped as Dubais will be boring
