London - Melbourne - suburban Perth and a baby!

Hi all

was actually looking for a site to post a thread titled something like 'wtf there's a huge snake on my porch!?!' And found this site. Having read a few of the articles and threads I thought if join in!

The subject heading says it all really - I moved to WA 2 years ago. My wife hails from here and when we knew we were having a baby thought it the best to make the move as all the Inlaws are here. Def proved right.

having now just bought a house in leeming everything seems pretty good. Job is good, wide and daughter happy etc etc I'm just now beginning to miss the friends and networks I had in London. Going from clapham to Melbourne (prahran, job transfer) to here is all quite a shock. That plus baby means getting out and being social is difficult. I have a few mates here (through my wife) but no real English - golf, football or general bloke buddy's to have the odd beer or two with.

im sure there are a lot like me now in nice Auzzi homes with pools etc but lacking the mates they may have left in blighty. Maybe on this blog and living south of the river?

anyway I'm 34 with a 16month old (Frankie) have a great wife and am generally very happy. Just be good to share a beer with anyone in the same situ.

oh and the snake thing was a bit of a worry but assured it was a one off. That said we are still getting those that know best to come out tomorrow (vs me in wellies with a pool scoop and shovel!)

Hi George, I'm in a similar position - moved here on a 457 visa mid-November but my pregnant partner and 4 year-old step daughter won't be here till January. I brought my golf clubs and have been looking for a game or just a social beer. Currently living in Subiaco so give me a shout if interested..
