nicolac34
Yes, the other half's mother keeps threatening to come out, but thankfully I think it's unlikely!
Rossmoyne
Only ever happened once to us. An objectionable cousin decided to invite herself and her family to come and stay with us for a month - sent me a text 5 days before they were arriving to give me their flight details - that was the first I knew they were even coming!! I was so angry I booked them into a hotel - picked them up at the airport and took them to said hotel and said that once they had their itinerary sorted to let me know and we would have to meet up for a meal. She was a bit surprised and got narky saying they didn't have money for a hotel.... to which I replied that I didn't have room to put 6 people up as I already had a friend staying and if she had asked before booking, I could have told her that. Haven't seen or heard from her since thankfully! Some rellies are just not worth having!

Rossmoyne
the cheek of some people! Well done you! thanks Nicolac.... very out of character for me to behave like that but I just got so incensed at being taken for granted by this person, yet again! Akasully2
Have you been on an insertiveness workshop? Well done you for having the balls to turn them away!
odies
unbelievable, to travel half way around the world and expect to be put up ,looked after etc.etc. you do not need relatives or friends like that !
Rossmoyne
Have you been on an insertiveness workshop? Well done you for having the balls to turn them away! Actually their planned arrived did coincide with the Life Coaching workshops I was helping to run - one session of which was "How to be Assertive without giving offence". Guess I got the assertiveness bit OK, but didn't succeed with the second bit too well!
sunflower
Actually this is one the reasons I decided to immigrate to a country 18 hours away from home We used to live in Qatar for 6 years, noone dared to visit us at the sandpit. And I never invited anyone After coming back to Turkey, I had many family visits. arrgh! You would think your parents WHO came to visit you when you had a foot fracture, on walking sticks, in terrible pain, would do some cooking instead of making you do everthing right? Neeh, but when my mother wanted to have a surgery in the city where we live - because dad wouldnt be able to take care of her the way I could - you just have to do all you can for 15 days until she recovers, and your brother wont even call you to ask if you or his own mother is ok. I dont even want to mention the idiot cousins. Hopefully the expensive flight tickets and non-english speaking relatives will give me some peace down there
