bugsyburrell
Finally had the phone line installed by Telstra last Thursday through iinet, had to call iinet to inform them it's done, then they will activate the broadband. Monday we get confirmation the broadband is now live.....but we still have no router what was ordered with the package?? The kind lady at iinet has informed us that the goods are not dispatched until the broadband goes live so will be with us in a few days?? Beginning to wish we had gone with Telstra in the first place?? Since we plugged the phone in yesterday we have had two calls, one tryin to sell us funeral insurance and the other I didn't give him a chance, I just heard those fatal words "and how are you today sir?"! Is there a way of banishing these pests from our telephone lines??

bugsyburrell
Thanks James, we'll give it a try, have you found it to work? The grim reaper trying to sell us our own funeral did clearly state "this is not a sales call" until 10 minutes later saying "would you like me to arrange a quote for you??" is this a way of getting around it? Rossmoyne
We have been registered with the Do Not Call Register since it started and it is brilliant! I have not had one cold call in all this time - sorry can't remember how many years it has been. Bugsy you will love iinet..... I know that the landline has to go through Telstra and they are a s**t provider, but iinet are brilliant. They are a WA company and if you have any issues and need to call them, they are so polite and helpful and English is their first language so none of the Telstra stuff dealing with idiots in India and other offshore so-called "customer service centres". I have my home phone and internet through them and when my contract with "Helstra" ends soon, I will be taking my mobile contract to them too!!! bugsyburrell
Thanks Rossmoyne for the reassurance, the people we've spoken to in their customer service have been spot on but I think it seems to be the general mañana mañana WA attitude we are struggling with? Rossmoyne
Thanks Rossmoyne for the reassurance, the people we've spoken to in their customer service have been spot on but I think it seems to be the general mañana mañana WA attitude we are struggling with Yes but you have to accept that WA means "Wait Awhile"! That is why life is so laid back here!!
lozzachino
I dont answer my landline. We got it because we had to to get broadband, what a joke. I dont answer on the principle that i dont even know my number so whoever is calling clearly isnt calling for me!!
Chardy
We have our phone ringer turned off too as only rarely use it for local calls out. Mobiles do the rest. I have spoken to Telstra only a couple of times in the last year as very reliable service but always got through to an Australian agent who speaks perfect English, so I don't understand the Telstra bashing. They certainly seem better than good old BT !
