portlaunay
How's the heat now then? It was a pretty long, late, wet winter but summer has hit us this week and Perth is glorious today. My gauge is reading 30 degrees. Remember Slip, Slap, Slop, you'll cook in seconds. Make sure pets have plenty of water and remind your kids to drink too. If it's too much for you then head to the coast and dip in the ocean. Enjoy.

I can't imagine the cats being thrilled at being chucked in the sea On a serious note though - they are my main concern as we will be arriving in Jan so it may be a bit of a shock for them! Redsquare
I stepped out of work at dinner time to go to the shops.. The only thing I can compare it to is opening an oven door! As much as I'm a dog person, I have to conceded the fact that cats are smart.. I'm sure they'll find the coolest place in Perth to rest. Rossmoyne
WOW what a scorcher today! Rushing around doing the Christmas shopping today and after spending 4 hours at Belmont Forum, came out to my fan-oven on wheels to drive home in! I have a new modern car, but that aircon took all of the 30 minutes of the journey to cool the car down. Jumped in the pool when I got home and have stayed in bathers under the aircon wrapping pressies ever since. Come to think of it, bathers are now dry so time for another dip!! Seriously though - all you newbies to Perth - please where a hat, apply sunscreen at every opportunity, and always carry lots of water with you. Oh and try to avoid the beach over the middle of the day! Never underestimate the power of the sun in WA or how sunstroke/heatstroke can affect you. 7cdb
We do hot,we like the nice weather. Having visited Kenya,Maldives etc we were very anxious about the heat in the Southern Hemisphere, but more for our 1 yr old. We have taken him to the Canaries twice since he was born to make sure he could handle the heat......he was fine (although it was a bit odd not having a good old drink on our first holiday when we took him!!!) but we are a family now. Still wondering how our pointer will cope with it next year... The heat here although very hot is different, still felt myself sweating like a fat lad a couple of times. But you can function in this heat @ +35 degrees,in Europe I don't think it would be so easy??? And can you imagine the UK at +30 for a few days, people and the country would explode!! But out to be honest all I have been thinking about is how much work there must be for a fridge man like me over here Edited December 13, 2013 by 7cdb

SJT
I've spent most of the day indoors with the air con on (I was cleaning, so that's why I'm indoors ). After cleaning was done, popped down to Trigg Beach and sat on a beach in the shade with a lovely breeze watching the World go by and it was lovely, even had a bob tailed lizard come and sit next to us as well. Not too sure how I will cope when it gets really hot, but I have for the very first time in my whole life purchased shorts and have just accepted the legs need to come out!!!! But out to be honest all I have been thinking about is how much work there must be for a fridge man like me over here We are on the verge of completion on our house sale and will also be over in January, I too am a fridgy and am currently trying to savour these last moments of shivering my butt off working on rooftops because as of January I'll probably be begging for just 30 mins of British winter to cool me down!! As you say there should be plenty of work on though!! Roll on January

I hope you did the cleaning properly :wink:I never wear shorts at home as one of my legs is very badly scared from having 3 dvt's,here or anywhere on holiday they come out. And whenever I see someone in a wheelchair or other disability I always hate myself for being such a precious nob head. get 'em out and relax

Loulou
Our first summer here and we are so glad we bought season tickets for Adveture World only 10 minutes from us so we are treating it like our own pool! OH is fitting Solar Panels so he is finding it pretty tough especially when most of the customers don't even offer him a glass of water
