Skit78
Hi there, has any one used Cathay pacific when flying to perth via Hong Kong ?. Me and my wife leave in 9 days time with a stop over in Hong Kong for two knights, we just wanted to know what they are like to fly with. And if you could upgrade maybe on the day of departure for premium economy. Also has any one upgraded on the day and how much extra did it cost you. Many thanks Scott. fifi69
We flew with them to Perth with a HK stopover. i found them fine to travel with. A lot of people don't like the seats but once mastered they were fine. You need to push with your bum to recline rather than use your back. the staff were attentive, food ok, they also leave out nibbles to help yourself too throughout the flight. Didnt really find any difference with them over emirates or Qatar airlines. didnt upgrade so can't comment on that. Glad ive knocked HK off the list of places to see but def not somewhere I would go back too.
Candygirl
We have been with them a couple of times and really liked them. We have upgraded with them to Business too (free of charge) and again - very good. Have a good trip.
CharliePappa
Hi we flew with CP a couple of weeks ago and to be honest they are reasonably good. The entertainment system is good, plenty to keep you occupied etc. The only downside is the food. It is your typical attempt at trying to do something Cordon Bleu in a tin which just doesnt work. Thankfully you can take food on the flights with you (some people were eating boxed salads), just make sure you dont take anything off when you get to the other end! The transit in HK airport is good and clean and we chose this as the place to wash/freshen up on the journey. We travelled with two kids (12 and 8) and made the mistake of not ordering a childrens meal when we made the booking. It does make things that little bit harder especially as it means that you just have to order something which they can at least pick at and then eat the breadroll! Overall the experience was fair. We fly out again in around 4 weeks and will by flying by Singapore Airlines, basically because its cheaper for when we want to go (around a grand cheaper than Emirates) and will make sure that we are well fed at the airport and take something for the kids to nibble on during the flight. You can always starve yourself as whereever you seem to go in Perth there is a Red Rooster/Chicken Treat/Subway/Macdees along the route! Enjoy your flight! Osmond8
We are flying with Cathay on 9th Jan out of Heathrow... Also having two nights in HKG, which i cannot wait for!! I have flown with CP a few times now and have always been impressed... However, maybe i am biased as my sister and brother-in-law work for them!!! That aside, i have always found the crew friendly and helpful, also enjoyed the food and the snacks are an added bonus!!! especially when flying with kids!!!! Have a good flight and enjoy Hing Kong
Guest guest10912
They are definitely my airline of choice, although I travel in business for long haul.
jamesw
Sorry to be negative, but I found the seats the most uncomfy I have ever sat in. My back was in pain within an hour of the flight taking off and had to seat upright for the whole journey. Also, once you fly to HK, you still have over 7 hours on the second flight before arrival in Perth. On the plus side, the food was the best I have eaten on a plane and the entertainment system was very good too.
phil
Maybe it's changed, but we only had a couple of hours in Hong Kong. Enough time for a shower and a bite to eat. Cathay weren't bad, but I didn't find the seats as good as others on their 747. Preferred Emirates. At the end of the day, they'll get you here! Skit78
Hi all, well CP was ok to fly with couple of miner things was had to re pack luggage as we had 33k in one case and for health and safety it can only be 32k. So I had to take out a full bottle of jack Daniels witch weigh in at 1.2 kg and had to leave with my in laws. This was sad times lol. Then we had to Que. up again at the back of the line even after waiting near on 1 hour the first time. Anyway all done went to go through security and found out they only printed of my boarding pass and not my wife's so had to go back down again but this time noQue. As time was ticking bye and most people was at the gate. Anyway after paying £360 extra luggage and was told we mite have to pay again at Hong Kong as we are taking bags out and re checking them in again 2 days later just had to bite me lips. Well this was on as we did not pay again from Hong Kong we just smiled and told them we have already paid once and they was ok with this. We did ask to sit on two seats of our own and yes we had 3 seats to our selfs I think we was the only ones in the plane who had this as it was a full flight. Food was 'well food films were good . I have flowed with better but I would use CP again. Well we are here now and loving it. Good luck all and happy new year.
