tojo3005
hi all is it worth paying to get the visa labels, does it make any difference over there obtaining things like medicare etc
verystormy
Medicare and things no - you can just show your grant notice. I got mine because I travel a lot internationally. If you are not planning on much international travel then it's not worth it.
StraighttothePoint
Some other folks thoughts in this thread. http://www.perthpoms.com/forum/migration-issues/6386-do-we-need-visa-label-our-passports.html Also some readers of this may, for interest, want to have a look at the Vevo site. http://www.immi.gov.au/Services/Pages/vevo.aspx It does suggest in here that visa labels are not really required. Most Ozzie agencies should have access to this and so can therefore check instantly when they view and/or scan your passort as to your status. A lot of employers have now registered for this service as well because there has been recent checks on employed status here and this makes it easy for that task. Anyone who holds a Visa can enter Vevo without registering and when inside the system can check on your own status and print off a receipt. phil
They didn't cost a lot and I've found that when applying for jobs more and more people are asking to see proof of visa entitlement. The labels are an easy way to do that.

The labels are an easy way to do that. Yeah we, as a small business, got a government letter asking us to ensure that all our employees status was ok. Coles, where my wife works, just went through the process as well and so it looks like there is a push on by Canberra. Why pay when you can print off for free from within Vevo though? I appreciate old habits die hard and new systems take time to bed in, especially here in wait awhile.....
