Lou8670
Does anyone know whether it's worth buying or upgrading our bed before we move to Perth? I've been having a look on Myers website and UK sites and they seem to be a lot more expensive in Perth. Any advice welcome.
elfie
beds are different sizes here to the UK i think a queen size here is similar to a king size in the uk
Weedolly
Your looking in Myers no wonder they are more expensive!
CookieCrumble
Depends where you look, the bed shops are pricey, but ikea is reasonable. No one has doubles out here so don't bother with that, a king is a queen here and a super king is a king here (for bedding purposes). We got some decent mattresses in Freedom for around $400 each (guests comment on how comfy they are) and we paid $1,000 for a very nice king frame, also freedom. Walkabout
Hi, they are different sizes by name, but I believe (and could be wrong!) that they do equate in size so bedding etc should be possible for UK beds. With regards to whether you upgrade there or here I would say it depends on a few things, firstly personal taste, if you have seen something that you love there it may be worth getting it so you know you have found something you like, if you are not so fussy you can get a range of choice over here, but it takes time to find out where to get what you like at the best prices. Then the final thing I would say is what do you plan to do when you get here before your stuff? will you need to buy something anyway or will you survive on a blow up mattress or will you need a spare double for guests that you buy when you arrive and have your bed when it comes? or would you be better upgrading your bed here and having it before your container arrives? I know I can't wait for our bed to arrive, we have bought and are using a sofa bed at the moment as we decided we would need one for guests anyway, but I am missing our bed! Cost wise, I think it is much of a muchness as some are expensive ones and some are more affordable - there is always Ikea! Sorry, possibly not the most helpful post, but hopefully give you some things to think about to help you make a choice!
Druid
We have all UK size beds, singles, double & queen and the only problem we have found is that the depth of the UK base is different to the Aussie base, so getting things like a valance is impossible, the Aussie bases are thinner, so the valance is shorter. As for prices, there is a huge price range here in Australia , you can pay as little as you want or a s much as you want, google Super A Mart for the cheaper range and Meyers for the more expensive, you can a lot less here in Australia for a bed than in the UK

Lou8670
Your looking in Myers no wonder they are more expensive! As far as I was concerned I thought I was comparing like with like...Sealy bed in John Lewis with Myers which I thought would be a good indication Edited December 27, 2013 by Lou8670
Lou8670
I have to admit I don't mind spending money a good bed as we spend more time in bed than we do in our cars!
