Hi there and a Happy new year to you all.

Does anyone know what the job market for crane operators is like in the Perth area. I have a Crawler crane CPCS licence here in the UK, but just wondered what the market was like if anyone could give us a clue would be most appreciated.

Hi there.

Just done a quick search on the seek website and there are 74 jobs that have the word crane in them. http://www.seek.com.au/jobs/in-perth/#dateRange=999&workType=0&industry=&occupation=&graduateSearch=false&salaryFrom=0&salaryTo=999999&salaryType=annual&advertiserID=&advertiserGroup=&keywords=crane&page=1&isAreaUnspecified=false&location=1009&area=&nation=&sortMode=KeywordRelevance&searchFrom=quick&searchType=

I don't have any knowledge in the area of cranes, but don't be surprised if you have to do various Australian courses before you can operate one.

Good luck with you search.

I don't want to be a pessimist this early in the new year, but early December in my local after work watering hole near the airport, there was a bunch of very unhappy crane operators, riggers & mechanics which had just been made redundant by a huge crane operator based next to the airport, Perth mining industry has just gone through a change from constructing mines to actually operating the newly constructed mines, hence different skills required, Westrac the Perth Cat agent has also just announced it's laying off staff as sales have slowed in the mining sector
