Hi everyone,

myself and husband are looking to emigrate, my husband has over 20 years experience in supply/distribution/inventory etc from within the British army. Can anyone help with how to go about obtaining a visa or finding a job that is sponsored/nominated?

i work as a hr advisor but only have CIPD qualifications which from research don't look as though they are equivalent enough for me to pass the vetassess.

Really keen even to start the ball rolling!!!

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to PP.

Have you contacted a registered migration agent? They may be your best bet with regards independent visa advice.

Alternatively try the Immi website and the Skilled Occupations Lists. If your roles feature on there then in principle you can apply for a visa but there are many other factors considered such as age, health etc.

In terms of securing sponsorship I would say your chances are extremely slim to impossible, especially if you are not here. There was a thread on here recently about people in logistics struggling to find positions.

Sorry, don't mean to be all doom and gloom, just realistic.

Hi

I also work in HR! I'm an employee relations manger currently working in the nhs but would be looking for an adviser role in oz. I've been told HR advisers and managers are on the list for WA and am currently deciding which migration agent to go with!

I have emailed AHRI (Australian Human Resources Institute- just like CIPD) and they said they thought the market had slowed for HR positions over the last couple of years but it was now on the rise again. They also have a link with the CIPD so if you emigrate and want to become a member they can verify your membership with CIPD and transfer it!

Im so early on in the process I'm

Not sure which visa I'm going for yet but as I am alone it may be different entirely. I wish I could be sponsored, not because of money just for the security of knowing I would have somewhere to go in the first few weeks of arriving! But I've had to accept that's not going to happen!

Hope you find a visa that works for you both. I will try to update if I find out anymore about mine and anything that might help you as a fellow HR colleague dreaming about a better life!!!

The first thing tomdo is to look at immi.gov.au and look at the SOL and CSOL list to find your occupation. If your occupation isnon there, there will be a number next to it. Google this number and it will bring up the assessment criteria for it.

If the occupation is only on the CSOL then it would require either state or company sponsorship. If so, then you need to check the state lists to see if it is being sponsored. If not, then the only option would be company sponsorship. Getting company sponsorship is not easy and often only leads to a temp visa.
