Hopeful
Hi All, just wondering if anyone has applied for a 186 employer nominated visa under direct entry PR and how long it took for the visa to be granted? Also on the 457, does anyone know if age exemptions can be applied to enable application for PR after 50 where skills on the demand list? thankyou
verystormy
We had a 186 and it was pretty quick once all the paperwork was submitted. However, it seems to vary a lot on circumstances. There are means of gaining a 186 however, there are some fairly high conditions including a high minimum wage.
verystormy
I should mention I had been with my employer 2 years so was exempt from the skills assessment.
Hopeful
Thanks verystormy, how long was pretty quick, and what's the high minimum wage? My potential employer fears it could take a year to process, was that your experience?
verystormy
The process took about three months to get everything together. Medicals and police checks were about another month. Then it was about three weeks to grant. However, I worked for a big multinational company who had done this a lot previously and my case was fairly simple. I can't remember the wage required for the over 50's. I think it is well into six figures. My advice would be to have a chat with a agent. Most will give an initial consultation for free. Hopeful
Ahh I see you mean the $129,300 cut off? It know that would apply if I went for a 457 and wanted to be able to progress to PR but not seen that this was a requirement for 186 I think I may have to have a chat with an agent as not sure how experienced employer is with visas and I have 3 months before I am 50 arghhhh, have resisted so far and done it all myself but time is too tight I fear now. Have already applied for skills assessment and done ielts but need to redo as only got 7.5 in writing and need 8s and then think I could apply for 489, and as job in Peel area so should qualify I hope- time is just so tight now and was offered job in November so really keen to get it sorted!
