Daniel Cruickshanks
Hi guys I'm on with the 489 visa, I know everything there is to know about being an electrician and having to start as a trade assistant also know all about the 190, just want to hear from you people who are on the ground and living in WA. 1st I was looking at Mandurah but I'm a bit dubious now as there isn't many electrician jobs there but seems to be quite a lot in Port Hedland but that's quite far north. I have a step brother who lives in Midland so i will be residing there to start with, unfortunatly its not on the regional post code list, but i will be living there to begin with while we get our stuff together and all my tools shipped over, so gonna call that our holiday ;-) So guys i need to look real hard and do my homework and ask people like YOU, yes YOU :-) so please shine a bit of light my way. verystormy
Hedland is a mining hub. So rents are hugs - about $2k a week. It would not be my choice of a place to live. Incredibly hot in the summer - well into the 40's and prone to cyclones. Mandurah has a huge amount of residential building going on so I would be surprised if your trade was not in big demand. Do be aware that seek jobs for Hedland can be misleading. The agents post jobs that don't exist in order to maintain their cv bank and many jobs will be posted by 10 agents for the same job.
