My cousin, husband, son and dogs have evacuated their home in Mt Helena so may end up with us tonight.
SJT
Its such a shame. I know there is always a risk in the hills, but it is still devastating when it happens. I hope everyone stays safe and they soon put the fire out.

Nutnudger
If you use Facebook then you can like the 720 ABC Perth page, you will then get any bush fire notifications via there page as well, it's very helpful they also post any maps that have been provided to them, this should be used as well as listening to the station of course stay safe

Chardy
Also Like the Perth Weather Live page on FB. The guy running that did an awesome job posting the updates yesterday. So sad to hear of homes lost and the poor guy defending his house. My cousin and family were back in their house last night shaken but unharmed. Just hope it can be controlled/contained today! Guest guest9824
A horrible day and night for Parkerville/stoneville residents, so sad to hear there is loss of life and homes. Hoping the cooler weather this morning helps. We heard the water bombers going over yesterday, no smell of smoke in Kalamunda or ash so I'm guessing the wind direction had a lot to do with that. We had a long chat about getting an emergency bag together for this kind of thing happening, and it's probably made us realise we have to get things sorted. As all the other lovely people in this thread have already said, if anyone needs help, please let us know. Big shout out to all the firemen and women both full time and vollies, alll the charities who help at the holding places, ambulance and all emergency services, they must be exhausted! What a great job they all do. Pea
Ktee
Thoughts and prayers to all affected. After going through Black Saturday in Victoria I know how devastating and life changing this can be. If any of our members need help in any shape or form please ask. Also, I don't know if Perth is different but when we had the Vic fires the families were sent to evacuation centres but pets were not permitted, if this is the case please find it in your hearts to offer these pets a place to stay. There were many people who would not evacuate in Victoria and the same when Yasi was heading to cairns! because they wouldn't leave their pets behind. Please also remember the wildlife and if you have any spare blankets, towels that you think are to old to donate to the families please donate them to your local wildlife rescue or veterinary clinic.
