SteveJ
Hi everyone. Does anyone have any idea if it is hard to get formula 1 merchandise in particular Mclaren stuff in australia. I know most stuff is easy to get in uk except Mclaren which is very limited. I'm asking as we have quite a large collection of stuff we have decided to get rid of and are wandering if it maybe worth more in australia if we brought it with us. We do have a considerable collection with many signed pieces and one offs. Any info would be much appreciated. Cheers
Bibbs
This is all in my experience :- F1 isn't very popular. Especially in Perth. F1 races are on terrestrial TV at silly times generally (so a PITA to record it as FoxTel doesn't have terrestrial TV, or you have to set your alarm clock to watch live), and people don't really see the point of going to Melb / Sing for the weekend to see it (or it'll be a one-off holiday while doing other things). The popular stuff is the V8SC, and then the local Speedway and Dragstrip (for the Top Fuelers, where I was on Friday night as it happens). I'd even put the local Targa West Rally ahead of F1, and I've not seen any of it. I've not really seen any F1 clothing or memorabilia here. You would see RedBull shirts .. but that'll be Holden ones I'd suggest flogging it all, and picking up local motorsport. But even then motorsport is the sporting poor relation to AFL, Cricket, Soccer, Rugby Union, Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, Conkers and Tiddlywinks .. (well, maybe not that bad, but still)
SteveJ
Thanks ill bear that in mind. Won't be buying anything else to replace it all just not what we want to display anymore with kids having their own trophy's etc. F1 stuff is pretty much the same here with no shops etc but for this reason it does command a fortune. I might check out Oz eBay see if its commanding much if not take it to memorabilia auction as we have a lot of stuff with most sealed and unopened. It will be interesting to see if its popular in Melbourne.
