Gaz H
Hi Hope everyone is enjoying the weather, be it +40 or +4. Quick question. Has anyone taken hand tools over with them as part of their baggage allowance? I cannot send my tools to Perth until I finish work but will need then ASAP when I arrive. Was thinking about using some of my baggage allowance for my hand tools but cannot find any info on it! Anyone experienced this? wild rose
I'm not sure how much of a gap there is between you finishing work here and starting over in Perth but could you not send them as air freight? Sorry though I can't help with your query regarding using your baggage allowance. Good luck!
nikkiwd
Its not quite the same but we took our chef knives in our checked baggage for our working holiday no problem, we just declared our jobs on the landing form at the other side but nobody even asked to see them. Did you have them actually in your luggage or separate as "special baggage"?
nikkiwd
they were just a canvas case in our backpacks that we checked in, nobody at heathrow, perth, sydney or heathrow when we returned said anything even after xray. I just had a look here http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_91473
nikkiwd
why don't you send your airline a quick email to check their policy?
taylors4
My OH took his bricklaying hand tools in his suitcase, his level was put into the hold after they rayed it. No problems, no one bothered to look at them or anything. Really no dramas.

Ta Gaz If they're heavy or numerous check out Parcelmonkey for airfreight. We've used them quite a lot and the service has been great. Every parcel we've shipped has taken a max of two weeks so it's not too long to go without. As long as they're clean and well protected I'd have thought you'd be fine. fanofstockcarracing217
My husband took tools in no problem, we flew with Singapore and had extra baggage allowance as we were going one way, I think it was 10kilos each
Gaz H
Thanks Guys, I think I'll take the essentials out of the tool case, wrap them up and put them in a suitcase as baggage. then just buy a tool bag in Bunnings or something. Cheers
