Engineering looking to move with partner as dependant

I am an Asset Integrity Engineer with 3 years experience and a BSc Mechanical Engineering. I think I will be on the list but can my partner who I have lived with for 4 years move with me even though we are not married? She would also want to work when we arrive but only has high school qualifications. I have been told this is possible.

Thanks

Yes, your partner would be fine on your application. As long as you have lived together for 12 months she will be considered your de facto. She does not need any skills. It is only the primary applicant - you - that needs to pass skills and qualifications criteria. She will just need to pass police and medical checks.

Thanks for the replies guys. So I am looking at around £3500 for the visas. What do I need on top of that?

My estimate:

Visa £3500

Medicals: £500

Savings in bank: £20K ? ( If I have that does she need any savings?)

Total £25K to be safe?

What is the minimum savings I need to apply?

My uncle was a full Australian citizen but passed away last year. I also have friends that are Australian.

Hay

It all depends on which visa your applying for. Id say 189 points skilled visa. Also say good bye to your nice nest egg. there are so many other things to factor in. Skills assessments are between £300 - £800 TRA for example are $1000 AUD Medical are about £300 each you will both need one and police checks too. if you can work yourself a budget out that will enable you to live for 6 months without a wage you should be ok. Most people find a job within this time frame. You sound quite employable.

You don't need to go in with thousands of pounds but anything helps. I've heard a lot of people move across with as little as £4K.

Good luck anyway and get on the SOL to find your visa.
