sunflower
Hi, A friend of mine is sending her 2 year old daughter to kindy, from what I understand its like daycare. The child doesnt go to kindy every day. Whenever my friend has to go to school for her studies and doesnt have anyone else to take care of the baby, she sends her to kindy. She pays 95 dollars a day. She says prices are around 90-125 dollar. If you have PR and if the mother Works, you can get around 50 % of it from centrelink.
Chook
'Kindy' is short for Kindergarten. It is the very first year of school for Australian children, followed by Pre-Primary, Primary school (1-7) and Secondary school (8-12). In the UK, 'Kindy' is usually known as 'Nursery'. It is 15 hours a week over 4 or 5 days and is not compulsory. A child must be 4 years of age by 30 June of that year to attend Kindy and under the State public school system, there will be minimal charges, if any. Have a look at http://www.det.wa.edu.au (Discover our Website A-Z listing) for everything you need to know about starting Kindy. Prior to Kindy, there is Childcare or Daycare, which is expensive and not part of the State school system.
