Just have to do everything in the right order, I guess! Stick with it and don't worry...you're nearly there!! x
nikkiwd
Hi Jen, we did our meds and pcc's before we were allocated a case officer. As you will have only 12 months to enter Australia from the date of the medicals or police check (whichever is first) some people need the extra time and wait for case officer, if you know you will be going out this year then I would go ahead. Good luck, it is a nervous and stressful time!

GazNorth
We lodged a 189 just before Xmas too. No agent so I am just winging it - Police Checks are already sent off and medical set up for Feb. Good news is that Spire can do the meds at a weeks notice. I will be a lot happier when I get a CO. I'll post any news. Agreed- exciting times!

Thanks Gaz think we are going to proceed with our police checks and medicals, sometimes I wonder why we paid for an agent, but couldn't have coped with stress of sorting it all out good luck let me know when you get your co. GazNorth
Jen - I think the most stressful part to date was putting my Skills portfolio together. I found almost no guidance regarding quantity or quality of evidence required. I could barely sleep whilst awaiting it's outcome. I think I went overboard with the portfolio in the end. At the very least get the Police forms ready, with photos and ID etc all certified ready to send at a moments notice I guess - although it claims to be a 10 working day turn around (standard service)
travelchic
We did ours before being allocated a CO. Police check said 10 days but came back in 4 so was really quick. I had an agent and they phoned me to say my visa application was submitted and it was up to me wether I went ahead with the police check and medical or waited. I had my visa granted 6 weeks after submission I think. It's all a blur now lol. Debs
sunflower
Hi, we did our medicals before we lodged the visa. Also we applied for PCCs a month before we lodged visa. Because getting PCC from Qatar and UAE takes a few months, we applied beforehand. Good luck
Lou8670
It really depends on your personal circumstances and patience! If you need the maximum time to move then I would wait for your case officer otherwise go ahead and book tour medicals now. Good luck! Going to phone about medicals tomorrow and try to get the boys and me booked in when they are off school next month if not sooner on a weekend. The boys passports expire in March so am really annoyed with myself for not renewing them in December when I got the forms. ? Looks like the meds will be done in Manchester. Do they ask for access to your medical records from your GP? Police checks? Do you gave to complete a CRB (now called DBS)? Am not sure when to put the house on the market as am nervous about doing it until visa granted (if!) but need to do it soon. So much to do, so little time!? GreigT
Jen, You have to wait, as you can only book your medicals with a REF code which your agent with pass on from your case officer.
Lou8670
Jen, You have to wait, as you can only book your medicals with a REF code which your agent with pass on from your case officer. Actually, that's not quite true. You need your TRN but this will be available before you are allocated a case officer. We booked our medicals immediately after lodging our visa and paying the visa fee. We didn't get our case officer for another 4 weeks. Lou :-)
nikkiwd
Those that use an agent are usually told not to book medicals until told by case officer but the agent will already have the TRN required to book the medicals, they just don't want to give it to you. Those that don't use an agent have direct access to their own application online and therefore access to arrange medicals straight away after lodging the visa application. GazNorth
And without an agent so I am £?k in pocket too. Let's see if I am as good at selling houses
