Things that drive you nuts

    Recommended Posts

Mortified, but my daughter has picked them up at school  and her hair is waist length....nightmare! :embarrassed:

Oh Lou I feel for you... a head shave comes to mind but I am guessing she won't be up for that!

I haven't had to deal with that family-wise in Australia but I know it happens at every school here now and again.

My kids had it so often when we lived in Sussex. So bad at one stage that the school was closed for two days before a weekend by the Health Dept and every child/parent/grandparent was given the treatment stuff for free to use! 20 odd years ago now but I still itch at the thought of nits..... As an aside it was discovered that the grandparents of a child who volunteered at the school every day were the carriers...... once they were treated - all was ok!

    But I am still scratching....!!!

Apparently they won't even send letters to all parents asking them to de-lice for fear of bullying in the school! I found 6 live lice - yuk and I've treated her twice and she's still itching!

Lou it is horrible when you find them, but don't worry, we have all been there, been mortified too, cut the hair, put that awful comb through with conditioner dripping all over the place, and then proceeded to inspect every little brown nasty pest as it's trapped on the teeth of that lethal comb! Perhaps we could conjure up 'nit fairies' who take them all away in the night!

    Best of luck

My daughter has long hair and had them pretty bad here. We didn't like to use the chemicals so went with combing and glycerol. We combed through, covered her head in glycerol, put on a shower cap and in the morning combed again and washed it out. If you can't get hold of glycerol just try KY, it's water based so it washes out easily and pretty inert so won't do any harm.

    Jobs a good 'un

Thanks all! She's obviously caught them at school as they were all at the front of her hair; the area where kids heads butt up against one another when leaning across a desk to look at one another's work lol

Actually as I worked in Government Education Administration in WA before I retired recently, I can confirm that they have to let every parent in the class know about this in a letter.... if they are not doing it, then you need to talk to the Principal as she/he is in dereliction of duty to the school community....

Thank goodness...they are sensible in WA; unfortunately we're not quite there yet. These crazy, dithery rules drive me mad! Just like the ones where no child is allowed to win or lose at anything in case they get upset....the UK will end up with a society of 'averagers', with children who grow up with zero competitive spirit! Don't get me started :swoon: At a recent parents evening my OH was told off by one of the teachers because my eldest gets really upset if he loses at anything. They were lecturing the wrong person...my OH is no. 1 in GB for his sport and responded by saying "what's the point if you don't win; if you come 2nd or 3rd you might as well have come last". I don't think the teacher was expecting that :wideeyed: ...another thing that drives me nuts :err:

IKEA. People who dawdle round IKEA getting in the way of those who just want to get around and get the hell out again, the way IKEA force you round the whole shop like sheep, The fact that IKEA in Perth is exactly the same as any IKEA in the UK.......and breathe!!

Certainly happened in the school I worked in. In my school if the child was found to have nits during school time we called the family who had to come and pick them up and child not allowed to returned until treated.
