newly qualified Nurse wanting to move to Perth

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me please. I'm a newly qualified registered nurse in Scotland and would like to move to Perth with my family ( partner & 2 children). I have just started my first post in operating theatres 4 weeks ago, however I did a 12 week placement in theatres as a student nurse last year. As I am just qualified would I be able to get a visa and job or would I need to have some experience first, if so how long? Iv looked on the internet but its all so confusing. I'm just not sure where to start. Any help would be very much appreciated.

You will need some experience but how much will depend on which visa you are thinking of applying for.

Hi

thanks for responding to my question. I'm not sure which visa I'm going for still deciding on that. My partner had suggested to me to wait 6 months to a year to apply so that I will have some degree of experience in my field.

Unless you go for a 457 visa you will need experience. Look at APHRA they are the nursing board and you have to have worked at least 20 hours a week for the past 12 months. Some hospitals are not as busy as they was but look at Fiona Stanley hospital as that will be opening soon it's SOR

I am due to qualify this September and I have had advice from several migration agents. If I am not looking for state sponsorship I do not need experience, however employers have advised for me to get a minimum of 6 months experience in the UK. The PR independent visa 189 that I am looking at will take approx. 6 months or more to process so I plan on following this route.

Qualify in Sept - ANMAC skills Assessment - 189 VISA application - AHPRA application. This should take around 9 months if I am on the ball.

I think you may find it difficult to apply for sponsorship opportunities with less then 2 years work experience as most job adverts state this. However, with 2 children it is usually advised that you pursue a permanent visa (more security, no school fee's and entitlement to apply for child benefits).

Good luck with whatever you decide and I hope you are enjoying your current job!

Hi thanx everyone for there response. I emailed a migration expert today and they said I could get an independent visa for me and the family and don't need experience. I think I'm gona wait till july/aug time before I apply for visa that way i will have at least 6 months experience in my current post.

Allison, make sure you take advice from a MARA registered agent. There are some people out there who will tell you anything to get you to part with your money. Get advice from someone who is recommended on here. Go Matilda is one of them, can't remember the name of the others. I used immigration2oz. All reputable agents will give you a free consultation with good advice about what's best for you and your situation.

The company is visamigrate. I think they are MARA registered. I only emailed them just to see what they would say.

I thought you needed experience for the ANMC skills assessment?
