Contacting potential employers

Not sure how other people have got on with this? I have sent my CV out to a few air conditioning company's to get some feedback on my experience / potential employment, I have not had much of a response so far but I have a friend in Perth who does the same job and he says he was offered 5 jobs. I am guessing that some companies must get this sort of thing all the time and they maybe more responsive once I have the visa granted.

anyone else have any experience of this?

it maybe just the trade I am working in.

seems odd as I have 24 years experience so thought I may have had good feedback.

OH sent his out to a few and had a couple of responses (or acknowledgement of receipt) he's also in a/c. But we hope that lack of response is due to the companies waiting to see u in person so we plan on contacting the same companies again when we get there. Also one mentioned that all licences need to be in place before a job can be given and this cant be done until you're there so again indicates a job may be easier to get once arrived.

Good luck

I have to agree with Lozzachino, unless you are very very lucky, they really do want you here and ready to go. My hubby had a first interview on the Fri, followed by medicals etc the following week and started the following Mon, very quick, especially considering it had taken 7 months to get to that point. Even when you are here and are ready to go it can sometimes be difficult.

It worked for my hubby Jason. He sent out his CV to a number of companies not long after our visa was granted, telling them that he was due to arrive in Perth on such and such a date, and asked that they kept his CV on file should any vacancies arise. 95% of people did not respond, however a couple did saying that he would be more than welcome to pop in after he arrived. He followed up on the ones that got back to him and had a job start within 2 days of landing. Don't give up, just maybe wait until your visa is granted, but persevere and it will pay off. Good luck x
