Your best ever holiday?

In Jan I had a brilliant holiday to celebrate my 'special' birthday, but my favourite had to be my honeymoon (errr many moons ago), we travelled to Hong Kong and Thailand, probably because it was our first holiday as a married couple, it always has special memories. What was your best ever holiday?

Currently the first time we went to Disneyland Paris and the children were young enough to believe in all the magic and enjoy every aspect of the happy environment... We went 2 more times after this and felt that they had grown bored of it and didn't appreciate the magic anymore, which was such a shame. Disney is a magical place for children and it gave us memories we will never forget, again it was the first time we went abroad as a family and I think that added to the excitement!

Best holiday ever was when we spent 2 weeks in Lindos, Greece to get married 4 years ago. It was like something out of Mamma Mia, little white chapel by the sea, all the family came too, it was just amazing. Trying to talk the hubby into renewing our vows in a few years time just to do it all over again lol!!

sounds lovely- my friend has a wedding planning business in kalkan in turkey and organises weddings/renewals in all sorts of places including traditional Turkish gumbets (boats)- always looks amazing on the pictures in the med and I fancy renewing our vows out there too .........

Hard call between Mauritius and the Maldives. Mauritius was our honeymoon, very varied landscape, lots to see and do. Indulgent and romantic.

Maldives was our last blow out luxury holiday before we started trying for a baby. We did an intense PADI scuba diving course in readiness for it. The day before we flew out I found out I was pregnant! We were rushing around and it didn't seem the time to break the news. I then planned to tell OH on the plane but that didn't seem right either, so I waited for that special moment. Two days later under a full moon on the beach, with no one around, I told him. He didn't believe me, thought I was joking because I was laughing. He then jumped into the sea fully clothed and cried with joy! Needless to say, I never scuba dived after that because it wasn't recommended whilst pregnant. Just stuck to snorkeling around the reef as he held my hand protectively! A perfect holiday until the morning sickness kicked in!

I love going on holiday, every time its amazing but my most recent trip to paris was fab!

We went to euro disney. As a child of the 80s, I was raised by the law of disney.

4 days me and my little girl twirling, skipping and singing 'some day my prince will come'.

haha my poor husband needed a day out with the lads after all the happily ever afters he endured:)

Roll on Florida when the little one turns 7:)

Oooohhhh, hard call on this one...... can I have two? :smile2:

First...... Disneyworld Florida when the children were 5 and 7 {absolutely magical ages for that sort of thing**..... we went with family and had a big villa all together and had a right royal fun time.......

Second..... the Whitsundays a couple of years ago..... we drove from Ballarat in Victoria through the outback over 4 days stopping at some really out of the way places and pitching our little {tiny** tent each evening at some remote camp site and enjoying chatting with complete strangers under the stars. Then spent two weeks snorkelling, relaxing, visiting and generally enjoying everything we could around the Whitsundays before travelling back along the Queensland coast..... good job we have two kids who travel well!!

Looking forward to lots more memorable holidays in the next few years.....

Florida 2009-amazing! never ever thought I'd like it but disney is out of this world :-)

very special memories....

however I'm hoping October this year will bring a completely different and amazing experience in Australia..

xx

We love Disney - did the whole Disney experience staying in a Disney hotel when the kids were younger, and had to do it again in CA (prefer Florida though)

Pre children I'd have to say the Côte d'Azur. Everything was beautiful, the beaches, the hotels, the food. I've stayed at lots of places up and down the coast over the years and I'd struggle to pick a favourite. Maybe when the children are grown up I'll go back? :smile2:

We were laughing as at 19 and 14 our two children still want to come with us.

Pre kids we did loads of Greek Islands, love Greece but our Weddingmoon at the Moon Palace in Mexico were the best.

With kids Disneyworld Florida is the best - we won a week trip there with the Capital radio group and staying in a Disney hotel and jumping queues with a Disney guide was priceless.

We went back to Florida for 3 weeks on our way here as love it so much !

We also did a week in the Maldives in 2008 leaving the kids behind and that was lush too.

The best ever.......too hard a question ;-)

Another vote for Orlando, Florida, stayed in hotel opposite Seaworld, Renaissance, spent time in Tampa too. Our honeymoon was spent in Perth WA, our first visit to the state, it was very quiet and cheap then, I fell in love with the place....and remember when we landed at Manchester airport driving back home, feeling thoroughly depressed. Only had to wait 17 years to make it our home :)

My best so far was probably Bali a couple of years ago. I'm always the one who organises and plans, does the driving, pays the bills and makes the decisions so I said I wanted a break from all of that and that Mrs p should plan every details of the holiday.

We had three weeks and I had no idea what she'd organised. Each week we stayed in a different place, each place quite different from the one before. She'd organised where we went on trips, what we did with our time, booked a driver for us, kids clubs, it was amazing, probably the first holiday where I've actually relaxed. I think after 40 years that was the first time I understood what the purpose of a holiday was.

Bali has something of a reputation for being to Australians what Ibiza was for the UK but like that beautiful little island, providing you stay away from the neon it's a gorgeous place.

We ( My wife, Jack the Dog and I ) travelled round Europe in my Jaguar in 2006! Started in Slovenia ( where we lived ) then Venice - Innsbruck - St MOritz - Lake Como - Nice - St Tropez - Marseille - Poitiers - Normandy- Good old Blighty! Fantastic. Stayed in some lovely hotels and chalets and enjoyed the weather. Either that or Mauritious, sit in sun and swim to pool bar for a refreshing beer- nice.

Hard to put that label on one holiday as I have had so many over the past umptydiddly years.... but the holiday that my Bestie and me had in 2008 when she flew from London ... we flew from Perth to Sydney.... hired a Motor Caravan and spent 8 weeks driving from Sydney up the coast to Hervey Bay in Queensland and then back to Brisbane ... all the time pretending we were retired and "Grey Nomads" .....comes pretty high on the list!

Honeymoon in Maldives was amazing so thats right up there. But my best holiday was a surprise 30th birthday trip to Rome, where i had always wanted to go, with my best friend. 3 days of cramming in as much, walking, touristy, non touristy, pizza, pasta and Prosecco...it was heaven! Would have been very sad to move to Oz without seeing Rome. The rest of Europe can stay on the to do list!

I've had some amazing holidays but some of the top ones and most memorable were my backpacking trip round America...went to NYC, Chicago, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, LA, San Diego, Mexico, Las Vegas and back to NYC for my 23rd birthday. My friend and I had a ball! :jiggy:

And the other was a month in Oz with my hubbie before we got married...Sydney, Ayers Rock and the Olga's where he proposed at a candlelit dinner  We then spent the rest (and majority of the holiday) celebrating with lots of romantic dinners out whilst in Brisbane, Fraser Island, Cairns and Port Douglas, Melbourne, Mornington Peninsula staying with family for Xmas and the finale was New Year's Eve black tie and cocktails with friends bobbing around on a boat in Sydney Harbour. It was the best spot for the fireworks display and Australia's practice run for the millennium and Olympics. Felt like royalty
