MrsM
Hi Everyone, So I've began the paperwork for the partner visa for myself & our daughters (my husband is applying for citizenship by descent). Some questions which we are going to have a difficulty on is - the information of his father, his new wife and his half brothers. All because his 'step-mum' just refuses point blank to acknowledge my husband (or our girls!!!). We don't even have an address for them. I used to have them on Facebook but his dad ignored me when I asked for the address to send an invite to his grandaughters christening... so chances of him giving me info for this visa is pretty slim! NIGHTMARE!! Also - has anyone else completed this visa application? My husband & I have been together for nearly 7 years and married for two. It asks for Evidence that your relationship is genuine and continuing - What the hell do I provide as evidence? Written statements from myself & my husband detailing the history of our relationship (important dates etc) - this should be fun seeing if he can remember important dates!! Lol. 2 citizenship declarations from australian citizens or PR's who can support our claim that we are genuine - my mother in law & brother in law should be sufficient? Any help would be appreciated.... Thanks! L

Claudette
Hi For evidence we had to send photos of us together at different times in different places - holidays, parties etc. I just pasted photos into word and put next to it the date and location Any plane tickets, cards to eachother/together, invitations etc. We printed out our phone bills and highlighted calls/texts to and from eachother. We also showed bank statements highlighting money going to/from eachothers accounts. Anything proving you live together: council tax, electoral register cards. Also had car insurance cert as both are named on it. This was sufficient for our visa. Although I've just noticed that you are married so perhaps your marriage certificate would be enough? As for the visa, we did ours through an agent and both had to complete forms giving all information on ourselves and our families etc. I'm estranged from my dad and his side of the family, including half brothers/sisters so just put this on the form as I don't have an address or anything for them. I'm not sure if this information was actually needed for my visa or just for the agent though I'm afraid

Happy little Vegemite
We've just received our partner visa (yay!) and didn't go overboard with evidence, just a few bits and pieces from each year we've been together (we've been together 12 years, married for 5 and have two kids). Examples of docs we sent are; council tax bill showing both names, car insurance docs showing each other as named drivers, bank statements showing each of us living at the same address, water bills, mortgage statement, and of course our marriage certificate... The written statements were quite fun to write, a light-hearted trip down memory lane. My husband and remembering dates didn't go too well, ha ha, but our stories seemed to match each other more or less. Stat decs we just got one from my dad and one from my sister (both Aussies) and one from my brother-in-law (English). Good luck with it all, if they want anything else I'm sure they will ask. MrsM
I dont know if I'm just overthinking it, but I feel its hard to prove a 7 year relationship - married two with two kids! Lol. If thats not commitment then god knows what is! Haha. Yeah the statements are funny things! I've began mines, 1500 words so far. Where as my husband is also a tad forgetful with dates, so I'm having to remind him. Men eh?! Lol. So far the evidence we have is our joint tenancy agreement, car insurance docs, council tax bill, statements, marriage cert and some 'social' things - postcards and invites. Can I ask - are you applying because one of you are aussie by descent?
Happy little Vegemite
We had to apply for my husbands visa, I am an Aussie, born and bred. I only came to the UK for a years working holiday... that was 13 years ago, so it ended up being slightly longer than planned
ali
when we applied for our visa I hadn't had contact with my mother for about 17 years - I just put her name and whereabouts unknown.
