kirstywales
Hi all I am moving to Perth in a week and just thought of student loans issue. I was at uni way back long time ago and still have some outstanding debt. I am not repaying at the moment as on deferment but want to know what happens to the debt - does it still stand and I have to repay or does it magically get written off if you move abroad as was the understanding when I was at uni? On another forum, someone wrote that post 1998 you still have to repay - does do that mean pre 1998 you don't? Help please. I guess I will need to tell them where I am off to, to avoid paying a fortune for them trying to track me down! I want to do the right thing but money tight a t moment and if I am entitled to not pay then that would be handy thank
ali
I don't know, but I guess if you do have to pay and don't and have to return to the UK then you'd probably go back to a poor credit rating and possible court actions. Better to just come up with a payment plan in my book
